JD 110 Brush Grapple recommendations?

Markham has one at about $1600, plus freight. Not sure about the freight cost..

Markham has a perfectly servicable 48 inch grapple for less than $1000 including shipping.

For $1000 they are worth a look that is a long way from $2500. Sounds like you could have both for about $1800 or so. Best of both worlds.

The one in my avatar and in the photos I posted is a Millonzi 48 light duty grapple. They are no longer made as the company went out of business. However, the Markham 48 light duty grapple is actually heavier built than the Millonzi so it would function just as well. I believe the Markham weighs close to 400lbs while the Millonzi was spec'd as weighing 280 (though I doubt it is really that light).

Just wanted to post an update. I bought a set of Worksite Pro pallet forks from JD. Love 'em! If you are considering grapples for moving brush and other items you should consider the pallet forks first and see if they will do what you want before going to the extra expense of buying the grapples.

I'm not saying that forks will do everything grapples will do. They are different but for my needs right now the forks do what ineed and my cost was less.

I've moved some concrete slabs, brush piles, implements, stacks of old posts, stacks of old lumber, debris......nothing I absolutely had to clamp down on to control while moving.

They are a great help to me and I might could have gotten a set cheaper than the $750 I paid but I consider it money well spent so far.

Still considering a grapple, too? The forks are a real asset - but they won't grab or dig worth beans...

The OP has a backhoe with thumb to dig and grab with, while not the same he may get by with out the grapple forks. A lot would depend on how much need he has, I would think.

Thanks Steve; I knew that when I orginally responded.... a page or two back. Pretty well goes without sayin' - on the need.

But... he was orginally lookin' for a grapple - and even though I have a thumb and a set of pallet forks, TOO - I use the grapple more than both of those attachments.

You guys are making me feel great. I only paid $600 for mine, although they were used and on consignment at the dealer. A few very small rust spots, but they look good for the rest of my life.

I am still considering the grapple. Just may not need it as much as I thought I would right now.

Really appreciate the advice I got from ya'll on the pallet forks because I think they have their own usefulness that overlaps the grapple, at least for now, for me.

The grapple will let me get some areas cleaned up that the forks just won't dig into and hold.

I like the 110 TLB with the thumb. Just can't see not having a thumb for digging, pulling, lifting from one position.

The grapple will let you move as you do many of the same operations so it's quicker.

Hope everyone has a cab with cold AC this time of year. (I don't )

I don't have a grapple or a thumb yet but I do have the cab and cold ac on my 110. I guess we all have choices to make and it boils down to one step at a time.

Exactly, Steve, but that cab and cold a/c sure would be welcome here in Texas this time of year.
