/ JD 2305 PTO problem. Need help! #21
Someone told me the Tuff Torq used in the 2305 is a X20. I have not found any information on a X20' Tuff Torq.

I'm getting real curious. Usually on the JD parts site they will state

Transaxle comparison chart
Home > Products > Lawn & Garden > Transaxles > Transaxle comparison chart

I sent Tuff Torq a email asking which transaxle is used in the 2305. No reply yet.

Here is what JD sent in an email on Friday. "we have started tearing it down and so far we found that the housing has a piece broke, off there's metal in bearings and at least two gears are bad. We are working on a complete repair quote, but as of now it will run over $3000.00."

I guess its "pie in the sky" thinking, but JD knew they had a problem in this tractor. They beefed up the case the next year. You would think they would stand behind their product and fix at no cost to the consumer. Instead, we have a tractor with 157 hours on it and a busted PTO and they have passed on their product problem to the consumer.

No different than any other manufacture of equipment. Nothing lasts for ever , nothing is warrantied for ever. Impacts and shock loads beyond the design strength of components happen all the time with any machine.
You should the video of some mad man jerking large stumps with a little brand new 1023E on YouTube. Deere should cancel the warranty on that tractor.

If it were my tractor I'd get in touch with the "area service manager" Back when I worked for a JD dealer JD had a program that would pay for repairs such as your tractor requires. I forget what they called it but at that time dealer also had to pay for part of the repair. I think it was called "fix as fail" for extenuating circumstances.

Don't be to hard on him, after all he was using the built in draw bar and not the three point lift arms. Can you image the damage he was doing to the aluminum housing of the rear end?
