jd 2520 vs kubota 2920

I agree the 3 speed on the kubota is nice, I wish deere had a lower gear for digging. One of the reasons I bought my 2720 over the Kubota was the removeable bucket. I use forks as much as the bucket. I don't understand why Kubota doesn't offer this on their smaller tractors.

not posted yet, but the BIG thing that is a real seeing point on the Kubota is the 3-speed rear rather than a 2-speed. The Low, is really LOW and will dramaticly outpull the Deere.

True, but for what I do the 3 point position control and the independent PTO on the Deere is more important than the extra gear on the Kubota tranny. For the OP it might be different. Go test drive both and compare them. They are both good tractors and this is too big an investment to make without comparing.

Whats the difference in pto functionally? I couldn't find anything major other than the clutch, with the hst you don't have the issue of pto stoppage to shift like you did on gear tractors. When i evaluated them i didn't find a particular advantage to either one, but maybe i missed something?

its a bullet point on some green sales sheet I'm sure. I means you can turn the PTO on without the clutch... we have that on several models too. Personally, I'd rather have the clutch so I can feather the PTO on. Most companies have been removing the clutch since it cleans up the deck.

Yeah that was my conclusion too. I didn't see any difference, but personally like to feather the clutch with implements that have big rotating mass.

Actually, I was playing with this today on my new chipper -- to stop chipping, I'd just push in the clutch, idle the engine, and then wait for the chipper to spin down on its own independently. I think I like that better than letting the chipper flywheel lug the engine on the way down.

They are both very nice tractors. I chose a 2720 because I liked the way it fit me better and I prefer the two pedal HST ( I have both). I have encounterd none of the issues of 2 vs 3 speed transmissions and have no problem mowing on hills in high range. That's partially because of the increased hp of the 2720 of course.

Running tillers, small bush hogs, flail mowers and post hole diggers the Electo PTO is fine and starts well at an idle. The only implement that I really like to feather is a baler but my big New Holland uses an EH PTO and it doesn't really feather either.
