[I also liked the metal on the kubota, it for whatever reason felt more 'solid' to me all around and I'm the type of person who would break the plastic hood on the JD.

The hood on the JD 2520 isn't plastic it is metal. Mine shipped with a big dent in it and dealer replaced it right away.

the "hood" is metal, it is the side panels that are plastic. and the plastic operators platform on the 2520 can't have the paint rubbed off/ rust out.

BTW I would recommend maybe posting the same thread in 'kubota pricing' so you'll get feedback on that side of the equation. Tons of B2920's over there, but most of them don't read the JD forum (I happen to because I also have a JD).

True. I should have been more specific.

I have a 2520 with the 200cx loader and 62D mower. I also have the 54" front blade, and a ballast box. I couldn't be happier with my set up. It does everything I expected and then some.

I think both are very good tractors, actually my next door neighbour has a Kubota 2920, and he is also very happy with his. My dealer actually sells both brands, which made it very easy to compare. I wouldn't knock any other brand, it simply comes down to what do you like.

For me it's the JD. Somehow, the JD just has that extra something that puts it over the top for me.

If you check out my posting history, you'll find a long explanation of my experiences with the JD 2320 and Kubota 2920. Short story: I went back to the 2320 and couldn't be happier, lower HP and all.

Its nice to have such thorough first hand reviews. I read yours when i was deciding between these two tractors. I made a different decision than you, but carefully considered all of your points. While i had a different opinion having read your write up made me a better tractor buyer and made me really try the machines instead of trying to decide based on a spec sheet.

not posted yet, but the BIG thing that is a real seeing point on the Kubota is the 3-speed rear rather than a 2-speed. The Low, is really LOW and will dramaticly outpull the Deere.

I completely agree. This makes a huge difference, although I don't see that many comments about the ability to pull with the low range in the Kubota. What I have read over and over are comments from tractor owners with just high/low range is that low is too slow for many tasks, and there's not enough power in high range to mow and go up a grade at the same time. There's a ton of comments on here about that. Good luck!
