JD 2850 Transmission problems

I own a German made JD 2850 with loader and cab with a synchrotransmission 4 low, 4 high and reverse. The tractor has been working great until last month. I was working on a job and had it in 3rd Low range. I went to shift to a higher range and was unable to move the gear shift and transmission out of the 3rd gear. It seems as thought something is stuck or blocking the shifter from moving. I can depress the clutch, and move to high range and reverse without any problem. the tractor still moves in 3rd low and 7th high, respectively as well as reverse. I cannot get the gear shifter to move. Has anybody had this problem with a synchro tranny? If so, any advice is welcome. I have not taken the console cover of yet to look at the collar shifter parts.

Which type cab MC1,CC2 or SG2? I'll guess a faulty shift linkage is the problem.

I have the CC2 cab and my guess is a faulty shift linkage too. Any idea how to go about fixing or discovering the problem?

I have never seen one here in Texas but when I viewed the shift linkage on JDparts.com it appeared complicated to me. I would suggest you get and study a JD tech manual for your tractor.
