JD 3032-E Log Splitter

I just installed a DR 3-pt hitch log splitter on the 3032E and it works as advertized. A splitter with a 3-inch cylinder seems a good match for the 3032/38-E's 5.3 gpm hydraulic pump. Anything bigger would go way too slow. Cycle times depend on engine RPM, but I get 6.7 seconds extend and 5.6 seconds retract at 2500 rpm. At 1500 rpm (fast idle) the numbers are 10.9 sec and 9.1 sec. Since this is a dual action splitter you can split logs in both directions, saving lots of time.

Since JD doesn't sell a Power Beyond kit for this tractor yet, I searched the internet and found out how Woods Equipment attaches their backhoe: (see http://www.woodsequipment.com/uploadedFiles/Products/Manuals/MAN0998.pdf for details.)

I have an SCV kit on mine but was able to connect a power beyond outlet the same way, as shown in the attached photos.
Photo 1 shows where I disconnected the steel line from the side of the SCV assembly. Connect two "Quick-Connect" fittings as shown in Photo 2. Don't forget to connect a bypass loop when you are not using the splitter as shown in Photo 3.

I had to re-route the hoses on the splitter because they are too short if you lower the splitter to the ground. Turning the rear connections and mounting the hoses on the side of the splitter gives you enough length.

I got the quick-disconnect connectors from J.D. because they have snap-ring grooves which will make it easier to attach them to a bracket I am working on.
