Any advice on which model, 3320 or 3520, I should go with to spread crushed rock/run? Is the 3520 worth the extra money for 3 more horseys? I'm not sure why Deere has two engines that are so comparable. Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

They are more differant than first blush might suggest.

The 3320 is the 3TNV88, while the 3520 is the 3TNV84T.

that is:

3 cylinders

TNV familiy of Vertical Tier II Diesel

84 or 88mm cylinder bore.

Turbo or normal aspiration.

So the 3520 has a smaller displacement turbo charged engine. While the Hp ratings suggest small difference, there will be a major boost in low end grunt. And if your altitude is high, the turbo will significantly outperform the non-turbo

Now, while there haven't been any reports of reliabilty issues with the turbo, it does bring in another possible point of failure.

Both are fine machines.

the 3520 is 37 HP at the crank. i went with the 3520 because it wasnt much more money for the extra HP. i think either one would have given me more than i needed, at least for now. i also think resale would be better for the 3520. i would go with whichever one i could get the best relative deal on if i KNEW the HP was sufficient on both. both are awesome machine in my (newbie) humble opinion. good luck.

I think there is quite a bit of difference between the 3320 and 3520. The turbo really helps the 3520 perform. The 3320 is a notable amount stronger than the 4310 which it "replaced." On flat ground or doing stationary work or hydraulic work, one would note no difference much, but on hills or in thick field grass running a PTO attachment, there would be a difference then. The key I think is to decide which tasks one has are "high power" tasks. If those are minimal, then the extra money of the 3520 is not meritous. If they are or the terrain one works on suggests more power would help, the turbo models really offer a big gain.

Food for thought. I was in your boat a year ago. I went for the turbo. And while I was at it I went for the most ponies that I could fit under the hood. If I have to have that frame I want as much power to push it as I can get. Just my two cents worth.
