JD 4100 Compact Utility Tractor 4WD issue with front spindle

I have a JD 4100 Compact Utility tractor and when backing a 4 wheel wagon in I had the 4wd engaged and turned very hard to the right while in reverse. I noticed a popping noise, in right front housing sounded like the knock in a bad universal joint. I immediately pulled it in the garage first shifting it out of 4WD. About every 1/2 rotation the hub would pop and the wheel was wobbling side to side moving 1/2" each way during rotation. I just wondered what i am into and if anyone has experienced this situation.
