Is it fixed? For the steering valve to be causing the problem, it would have to be forcing all the flow over the relief. Running without a suction screen, probably got crud in it. I bet it just needs disassembled and crud cleaned out. Most dealers just put new parts in because it's easier and less liability.

Thanks for the update. Something else to consider. I assume this is the hydraulic 'valve' under the dash. Sounds like the failed component caused low precharge pressure.

yes, it was the unit under the control panel.

It does seem to be fixed. I've only put a few hours on the tractor this morning but so far so good. The steering control unit is not all that serviceable. The dealer closest to me actually has a decent service department that tried to clean it out but it does not come fully apart and they could not restore it.
