Went to another dealer yesterday and have been able to drop the price down to $27,000 for all listed in my original post. Still have one more dealer I haven't visited. Probably take the best pricing back to the two dealers I like most and try to get them to beat it. It looks like the dealers have more elbow room to play with than what I originally thought...

Good for you. That is exactly how I got my tractor as cheap as I did. These dealers will lie about pricing all day long. Play them against each other. It will tick some of them off, but that's the name of the game. Best wishes on your new purchase.

No, I didn't look into dealers in NH. Although I could have, I really wanted to stay local and build a relationship with the dealer. I actually got the best price in the area from the closest dealer, which will make things a lot easier if I ever need service, etc. Purchased the tractor on the 9th...may have to wait until the 1st week of April before delivery as the tractor was ordered. Hard waiting, but it'll be worth it!

Hey Boatermark! When you getting that 4320 anyway? Having fun with my Massey. See ya.

I am a long time lurker living in Washington State (Wahkiakum County). This will be my frist tractor and after tremendous research and test drives I went with a 4120. This is what I paid.

Total $700

I hardly negotiated except mentioning I felt 10% off List / MSRP would get me to buy the tractor that very day. I wasn't sure how to deal with the "freight" line item, I think it's padding on their side. And of course, we get hit with sales tax here in Washington which does add up.

Ya, it's funny because some dealers added this in as a line item while others didn't. Either way it has to be paid for I guess.

Greyfields, I think you got fairly good prices on everything.

Just curious - what is the scarifier/ripper to be used for? I am currently debating getting one for pasture renovation and general dirt loosening. I'd like to know how useful they are before I take the plunge. Also, which brand is that - I have only seen Landpride and Freedom (Unverferth / Town and Country). The latter seems to be slightly less $$ around here.

I'm really glad the first comments weren't "You paid too much!!".

I live on an island in the middle of the columbia river, so our groundwater is just a couple feet down. Some people use offset discs, but find they can hardly get through the grass with them. And then when they do, they often get in too deep and casue problems. The ripper just allows me to set a depth I want to go down, like no more than 12", and rip the existing grass / weeds breaking them up. I'm planning to rip in two directions, then come through with the finish tiller. I'll till a second time two weeks later to kill anything resprouting, then I will re-seed the whole shebang. I'll be buying with cash a chain harrow and 450 lb seed broadcaster to lime prior to reseeding.

And since my tractor experience is pretty minimal, I'm hoping I'm not entirely wrong.

The brand on the ripper is "Rankin" which makes attachments over in Yakima.

Thanks. Your plan sounds reasonable to me - but my tractor experience isn't much more. I've never heard of Rankin; I find that a number of implement brands are only sold in their own region. Modern, out of Houston, is another good example.
