AG business is booming and Deere is behind several months...they are already sold out of just about all of thier big tractors and combines for this year, had all 2008 combines spoken for before 2008 even got here!!

Congrats on the purchase, hope things go well for you all.

It might be a strange thread, but at least it is entertaining. :D

That's true...I'm digging it...I think you should hold out for a 911 anyway:)

A deposit was placed on the tractor today. Sounds like we might not get our tractor built and delivered until September!
Wow, I can't believe they're backed up to September...

I might have to change my line of work to afford a 911. :D The Boxster, being mid-engined, is a much sweeter handling car. Now that it has 295 hp, it actually has enough gumption to make it exciting on a race track. Now, if I were independently wealthy, a Ferrari Scuderia F430 would the the E-ticket of choice.

I'd say a Porsche Caymen S would be a better choice than a Porsche Boxter if you want to do any tracking simply because it is lighter with a stiffer frame. A better bet cost wise would just be an E46 BMW M3 that is slightly used or maybe a stripped down E90-E92 BMW M3.

Anyway, you'll love the 5325, I know i love mine.

Good point on the Caymen. But, after owning a convertible, it is hard to go back to a hard top. I used to roadrace motorcycles, and a convertible is about as close I get to motorcycles these days. I really like the handling of the mid-engine Boxsters, although a M3 does evoke a bit more of the manly hairy-chest type feeling. Although for sheer fun, the M Coupe is tops. So many choices... I should have been born independently wealthy! :D

I may not have heard you correctly. You did say Porsche Carrera GT right?

This is what it comes down to now. A Porsche Boxster S or a JD 5325. Which should I get? The M6800 does everything I need it to. It is just hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The Boxster S is my dream car (within reach). What would you guys do given the choice - Porsche or JD?

This probably isn't the right forum to pose this question. The answer, of course, is to get both. You need the JD 5325 and the JD 5425. Life is too short to change implements on a tractor.

I like the way you think!

Well, John Deere lost the sell of the 5325. I can't justify paying that much money for a tractor that will not be delivered until September. The entire point of buying a tractor was to enjoy the AC during the summer months. :( Instead, the farm bought a new 5425! It doesn't have the ehitch, but since I've never used one, I will never know what I'm missing. It only has two rear remotes. But that isn't a problem. I can add the third when I need it.

I have to say, Cameron and his Dad over at Sparrow & Kennedy Tractor Company in Bishopville, SC were awesome to work with. My Dad made the comment that they treated us the same as if we were buying a $250,000 combine. Cameron has been honest, patient, informative, helpful, and left us feeling he genuinely did his best to help us as his customers. He gave the farm a fantastic price on the 5425.

The big differences I've noticed when buying a tractor as opposed to buying a car is that all the tractor folks I've dealt with have always given me the impression of being honest. I don't feel like I'm in an adversarial relationship squabbling over every nickel and dime. No shell games, no barely audible babble of disclaimers at the end of the commercial. No fine print.

There are a couple of dealers that frequent this forum and they ALL come across as honest dealerships. Even when they discuss the benefits or minuses of their particular tractor as compared to others, they do it with class.

I want to recognize Gamble for all the help in researching 5x25s and the 5603. Even though I did not buy from him, he always treated me a valued customer. A big thanks to Cameron for working his proverbial arse off for us, getting us a great deal, and helping us get our tractor sooner rather than later.

Tractor folks are just good people. :D

I'll post up some photos as soon as she is delivered. Hopefully within about 7 to 10 days.
