JD 6410 SUDDEN SHUTDOWN MID OPERATION

THIS TRACTOR SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN, MID OPERATION, WHEN BALING.
FUSES ARE REPLACED, IT STARTS, AND DOES IT AGAIN.
OBVIOUSLY A SHORT, SOMEWHERE.
ACCORDING TO MECHANIC, MAYBE IN THE HARNESS SOMEWHERE.
HAS ANYONE HAD THIS, AND IF SO, WHERE TO LOOK???

Does just turning the key ON cause the fuse F101 to blow?
How long does it run before the fuse blows?
My guess is the electric fuel pump.

If it is the fuel pump, I believe he should be able to just leave the key on and take an amp reading, or just leave it on and see if it blow.

It was just a guess about the fuel pump. I was thinking it may get hot then blow the fuse.

It's a very good guess.

My point being that just with the key on and the engine not running, the fuel pump should come on. If it does, then it would be easy to take an amp reading, or see if it blows.

i have not a clue about your tractor.

a "shop/service manual" for your tractor should give you a full wiring diagram, along with helping you locate your wire harness plugs. along with color coding for the wires. to help you better track down what the 30 amp fuse goes to.

John Deere Home Page Redirect you can get an online parts diagrams and part numbers. but diagrams are most likely pathetic compared to a shop/service manual.

Had the John Deere mechanic come out, and after trial and error:
a wire between the fuel guage and the fuel pump...
Go figure.
