JD 855 Turbo Project.....need to up the fuel

Diesels are not like a gas engine where a perfect air fuel ratio does exist, but you can over fuel a diesel and burn pistons, valves etc. With a stock injection pump and injectors that would be hard to do but on a common rail when an injector sticks open or over fuels, bad things happen.

That is kind of my plan!

Working on the intake and exhaust plumbing.
Will post pics of the finished product.

Yes, please follow thru with the project updates. I'm a fan of all things diesel, and have turbo'd NA ones myself, and dream of doing that to my lil JD 3005 someday... so please, pictures and tech details, parts info, the more detail the better! I'll folliw along and offer any advice or opinions I may have, as well as ask questions.

So far 4.5 psi full power with the fuel up.
I would like more boost so I ordered a GT-12 which should be "almost" a straight bolt on.
The GT-15 just starts in about the time I run out of rpm. Just too big.
The GT12 should work better.
Will post picts once I get it installed.

Hello all, I just found the site after putting a turbo on my 955. I used a aftermarket RHB31 turbo. All the parts to install the turbo i found on jd parts. I am far more concerned with exhaust gas temperatures than boost. If you dont watch egt's you can get in trouble real quick by turning up the fuel to much.

I have turbo'd my 955 using a aftermarket RHB31 turbo. If you havent already i I strongly suggest a exhaust temp gauge. You need to watch the exhaust temp when turning up the fuel. You would not believe how quickly things can get extremely hot with just a little added fuel

How'd you like the results?....how much boost are you producing?

The tractor runs great. I recently used a 5 foot rototiller at full depth in sod ground and the engine never knew it was hooked to it . Egt's hung around 900ーf to 950ーf. I do not have a boost gauge .
