Welcome to TBN
beenthere is correct JD didn't manufacture a rake with model # 549 but did manufacture a rake with model 594. JD parts catalog # for a model 594 rake is PC238.

That is older than dirt....:)

Now Easy on the older than dirt as that rake could only be 10 yrs older than ME:dance1:

Hi
Thanks for the response's, yes it probably is the #594 model (I must have wrote 549 after one too many trips to the shed where the Fireball storage locker is located). Yes it is part #11 in the JDparts manual link that 'beenthere' shows, however it does not give the actual part # that I would need to order another one. I've contacted several bearing supply companies on-line and they do not have a match for the dimensions of this cylindrical roller bearing without a inner or outer race unlike most shaft bearings .
See attached pic (width/ 'C' = 2-3/4", I.D/ 'A' = 1-5/8", O.D/ 'B' = 2-1/2")

I replied to a similar post on another discussion forum & stated the brg part # AL66E is available from ""Parts Dept"" but to get parts from them one must utilize a participating equipment dealer. IIRC Parts Dept had 4 AL66E brgs.

Try to edit the subject line of your thread to reflect the correct model number.. think you can within a certain time limit. Will help the TBN archives for future members.
Also, inspect the parts that go through the bearing and that contain the bearing to see if a machinist could bore and machine those parts to fit one or two new bearings.
If in question, post pics of the two parts involved.

There are several threads on TBN pertaining to the model 594. Might be interesting to you to read through them.

Hi Tx Jim,
Thanks for the part #, however I'm new to this site and don't know what you are referring to when you say ""Parts Dept"" & 'IIRC Parts Dept', is that something on the Tractorbynet site or somewhere else? Also, I'll edit the incorrect model number from 549 to 594 in the subject line when I get the how-to instructions from the site moderator.
Thanx again everyone

You're welcome
I stated incorrectly Parts Dept it's Parts Depot. Part Depot is a company that buys up dealer "old stock parts". It's my understanding to purchase parts from Parts Depot one must contact a dealer that has an account with Parts Depot to purchase needed antique parts. You could call one of the 800 phone #s on next Tuesday to get more info.

You're welcome. If you get brgs from Parts Depot please post back what procedure it requires to get the parts.
I know someone else suggested it & I'll encourage you that you should contact one of the site moderators & ask them if they could please change the incorrect rake model # in your thread title to correct rake model #.

Thanks for correcting rake model # in thread title. That might not affect much now but it will help if there are any future searches on same model rake.
