JD hyd fluid specs

Regardless of specs, compatibility, ford vs chevy debate, etc... I have to laugh....
Here people are, spending 20k +/- on a tractor and they're looking to save 10/20 bucks on a pail of oil....Actually if you buy a GOOD oil, you're not saving a penny as they are all around the same price point. After the 100 hour break in (you dont have a choice on the oil it came with :D) and you get 400 hours on an trans oil change, how much more does it REALLY cost...

As a note...I couldnt find anywhere where HyTran Ultra meets the Deere HyGard specs...Other then various CaseIH specs, it appears to me it only meets CAT TO-2 and Allison C-3 specs...You have a link for those specs? I couldnt find it anywhere here: http://hytranman.com/hytran_specs.php

IMO if you dont have the money to put good oil in, you shouldnt have bought the tractor in the first place.

You might want to tell that to IH and Deere since if you look at there spec pages they list them as being compatable. NOTE: CNH MS-1209 & MS 1210 are HyTran

Applications

Hy-Gard hydraulic/transmission oil provides the best performance and wear protection for John Deere hydraulic and transmission systems.

Recommended for equipment with either common system reservoirs or separate transmission and hydraulic systems, including those with wet brakes and wet clutches.

I wonder what "service rating" is supposed to mean? Pretending that HyGard can be used in place of NH 200A and Kubota SUDT in applications where the advantages of a low-viscosity hydraulic oil are REQUIRED is ludicrous. Especialy whan Deere markets its own low- vis Hygard which isn't listed in the "service rating" list.

Smoke & mirrors.

Do you honestly think Ford is going to recommend GM oil? Same thing. One easy way to check is to look at 3rd party oils. They will list the relevant JD, Kubota, IH, etc. spec numbers they meet so you can use them like a cross reference. Just do your due diligence and check more than one source in case one of them gets a little "creative" with their compatibility claims.

Umm....If you go to JDParts and look up HyGard you can see ALL the specs it lists... So I can see where HyGard meets HyTran specs, but not vice versa...

Your analogy is a little off...Ford wont Reccomend GM oil, but for WILL certianly say that their Motorcraft oil meets GM specs, Dodge Specs, etc, if in fact it does... so they can sell their oil. Nowhere in my posts did I say anything about IH Reccomending JD oil or vice versa... I just said I could not find anywhere in any CIH litrature regarding HyTran where it met HyGard specs.

3rd Party oils dont decode the mystery either...some of those oils are "Jacks of all trades, master of none"....when you get into the high end oils like I mentioned, you're at the same price point if not MORE then what you'd pay for a pail of HyGard, HyTran, or UDT.

Saving $25.00 in a transmission oil change on a $30k pice of equipment is just as they say "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies"

Guys I too would like to buy $25-$30 5 gal pails instead of $55+ HYGARD hyd fluid for my J D tractors and dozer, But its all about additive pkg's, mostly best anti-wear aditive AKA-- ZINC. Go to Oils and fuels for more info on who it appears blends John Deere's HYGARD Hyd oil or Email me.
