JD not dealing anymore?

I live in California, can anyone explain why tractors here are $3,000 more for the same model as any other state? And none of the JD salesman will budge on price and they have no answer as to why they are $3,000 more.

Also, if a JD sits on a lot for two years with zero hours on it and you buy the tractor your two year 2,000 hour warranty is over, is that the stupidest thing you ever heard of. And I'm not talking about the six year powertrain warranty.

Are you saying that the warranty starts once the dealer brings a tractor in? I don't think I've heard of anything like this....

From my experience everything is more expensive in California. I recall riding across Nevada and seeing a very busy plaza just before crossing into California with gasoline posted at 2.89 on a huge sign. I looked down at my gauge that showed almost 1/2 full and rode past. 75 miles later I stopped in California for gas and was surprised to see regular was $.50 more (17% increase) and when paying asked why so expensive? He laughed and said "you're in California that's why". The other items I purchased in California were more expensive also, basically restaurant prices, a motorcycle tire and especially the labor charged to change the tire which was $105 per hour (vs $75 here in WV at the time).
On a Toyota forum I notice many posting that they go out of state typically AZ or NV to buy their new vehicles because while sticker prices are the same, California dealers don't (can't?) afford to discount as much. Beautiful state but I'm guessing California taxes and regulations are a costly burden on business', and even individuals to a lesser extent, relative to most other states.

And a warranty period starting when the dealer receives a tractor, rather than when it's placed in service, seems very unusual. Heck if I were a dealer and that was the case I wouldn't inventory tractors other than a few demos then order them for customers that way they'd get a fresh tractor with a full term warranty.

I would not have a problem supporting my local dealer if say they were $200 or $500 more than everyone else but $3000. more is insane, that's my Roto tiller. Maybe these companies think we are all movie stars out here.

That's how the warranty was explained to me, and if I wanted the full two year 2000 hour warranty I would have to pay $600. More for a new tractor shipped in, the salesman also said they could put up to 200 hours on a tractor renting it out and still sell it as a new tractor. I wonder if all manufacturers have the same policy.

Ah that may explain the warranty because the warranty would begin once they put a tractor in service as a rental.

I think either the salesman was wrong or he did a very poor job of explaining things so you could understand. That is not the way the warranty works. The warranty begins at the date of sale.

You typed 200 miles, did you mean 200 hours instead? Either way, a reputable dealer would sell it as a demo unit and have it priced as such.

Ok guys I really messed that up, my girlfriend warned me about drinking and typing:drink: ok let's start over, JD has a two year 2,000 hour warranty on the complete tractor except tires and some other things and a six year warranty on their powertrain. I went to my local JD dealer and they had a 2016 2032R with zero hours on it. The salesman said the warranty started Feb 17 2016 and would end on Feb 17 2018. I have also looked at tractors on tractorhouse.com with low hours and they mention the tractor warranty is already ticking. The salesman said if I wanted the full two year warranty I would need to order a new tractor that would cost me $600 more. So if that was not true why would he say that. Sorry about the typo in the above threads.

I'd talk to a different salesman, never seen a warranty started just rolling off to a lot.
