JD Parts - Do you pay list?

There is not much to compare with automotive parts vs tractor parts. When I need specific JD parts... I can't order them from Wallmart. I don't go there every day but I buy multiples ( filters, wearable parts ) and hope they are in business when I need them again. My local dealer went out of business. Now its a 40 mile drive to the closest one way. It was better when they were local but lack of business shut the door.
Ther small amount of discount won't buy lunch at the end of the year. I like the service part.

Seen a sign that stated this:

Service - Price - Speed
Pick any 2

I think that holds true with parts of all makes and types (Automotive, Industrial, Ag, Consumer, etc)

I have written several responses to this topic....but each of them has ended up getting political. So......I have thrown them all away in order to comply with the wishes of the forum.

Still....I can't help but say that the few remaining independent businessmen that have survived these tumultuous times deserve to make a reasonable margin and a fair profit. I'd hate to see our tractor dealers go the way of Mart Mart (like so many other areas in biz have). Who's gonna figure out our service problems then....a Mart Mart employee????? Good luck with that!!!

We are dangerously close now.

You hit the nail on the head on that. We spend about 15% of my daily activity at the office explaining how to run a machine the consumer bought from a competitor or a neighbor and has no manual on it, or A consumer trying to determine what his item is worth from me so he can sell it to his neighbor, or a insurance company calls and wants to know the value of a tractor or implement that just got burned in a barn fire or the barn blew down on it or The consumer wanting to know what something is worth, so he can turn in a replacement claim to his insurance company and on it goes. Don't get me wrong, We are glad and expect to help in every way we can, but in the end someone has to pay for my and my employees time and services. The answer is, the customer that actually buys a product is who pays and we especially appreciate him or her deeply. Keep those calls coming in. We will help until the very end!! Ken Sweet

I have been reading this with interest, but staying out of the fray until now. The fact of the matter is, the average consumer has no idea what the MSRP on a particular Deere part is unless he has a connection at a dealership or with Deere to gain that information. Last time I checked, to get parts pricing from JD parts dot com, one has to pick a particular dealer. This gives access to that dealer's specific parts pricing, or his "dealer list price" which may or may not vary (at the dealer's option) from Deere's MSRP for that part.

I generally pay list. Sometimes, the parts guy will cut me some slack. My dealer will leave parts hidden on the side of the building for me to pick up after closing. I go by on Saturday and pay them back.

The owner (90 plus years old) has personally come out from his office and placed a new hat on my kid's head. Cute lil pink one at that...

Sometimes, on bulky or heavy items, they tack on a bit of freight charge. Not much, just a fair amount. I am warned about freight prior to special ordering something.

They sold me my Service manual on CD for a bit over half price.:)

I have believed that JDParts pricing was JD list price, but I may very well be wrong. As a forum, we have the ability to test this theory. I just bought a part and priced another which I didn't buy. The first was part# R48595 for
$64 and the second was part# T25836 for $160. As we have the ability to check pricing through JDParts for many different dealers around the country, does anyone get a different price for these items through JDParts?

jdparts shows the same pricing for me.

My local dealer doesn't have either one, but their store in Cleburne does.

Cool system,
D.
