JD2025r Tiller Capacity - What size lot can I till?

Run the tiller at 1000 rpm pto and drag a railroad tie behind it.

That's basically at an idle for a 2520r. I would give it more throttle than that just getting it out of the shed. Any pto work done with these small tractors should be done with a WOT (wide open throttle).

I meant to use the 1000 RPM pto speed. Engine is run at 1500 or more. ... The idea is to spin fast enuf to pulverize the turf allowing it to drag out well for leveling.

I wouldn't till very deep, a couple inches, too deep and you invite settling issues. Then use a drag of some sort, a landscape rake might also work.
