JD4100/B7500

Titanic, I was surprised also when the dealer suggested turf tires instead of R4's. The dealer said a softer tire compound and more tire surface made the turf tires better on hardpack and ice. Seems to hold true after using the JD 4100 with the R4's.

Terry, I felt that the JD 4100 with 20hp using 48" blower as compared to a Kubota 7500 with 21hp using a 60" blower was advantage JD. Both worked well but the JD blower bogged the engine down, (same snow storm, 9", 2 different locations). I think maybe the difference lies with JD's blower setup and not the tractor. sherbs

What's everyone's thoughts on how big of a rotary cutter will work effectively on either for pasture grass? Would the 2410 be able to accomodate a bigger one?

I use a 48" cutter on Lucy. Works fine, and cuts some amazingly large stuff without a whimper; even on the hills that I have. I imagine that you could go a little larger on a B2410, but I don't know how much larger. Depending on the material, 5' might work, but it could be a problem if you have heavy brush. A 5' mower would take roughly 25% more power, and I don't think there's quite that much margin between a 7500 and a 2410.

I too had the same decision to make last spring. I choose the B-7500 price biggest factor 2k less in my area. PC has not been an issue for me. That and oveall weight I belive is the only advantage of the Deere. I am very pleased with the tractor like Glue Guy I use a 4 ft. cutter with mine it does great never strains the 5footer may work on the 2410 if is mainly pasture grass. That said either tractor will serve you well pick the one you feel most comfortable with. Enjoy and be safe.
Best of Luck,

I plow with turf tires and it works very well on snow and ice, long as it is not too wet

just last year i was in same delima as u, same two tractors, would have bought the 7500, no particulr reason just a lot of little ones, ended up with a b2400. in mho there is not thatmuch diff between the two, ain't much diff bet. a 6 gal. tank and a 5 gal. fuel tank. pc is nice if u need it, u have to decide which YOU like best, but for me it would have been the 7500

Me too Frank, I looked at the 7500 and wound up with the 2410. I just wanted the extra HP. The PC was not really a factor. My dealer also told me that the 7500 and the 2410 carry the same size implement recommendations.

I like the brakes on the BX and the 2410 where they are and I like the hydro pedal on both much better than the funny two pedal arrangement on the JD. I think you should consider the 2410 against the more costly 4100 and new 10 series. PC is nice to have, I like it.
The Kubota 7500 can use a backhoe whereas the 4100 cannot. The 4100 does NOT have a greater hydro output.
The Kubota has metal fenders and hood. The Kubota has a Kubota made engine and transmission and direct or indirect or whatever I think it is a better engine (my opinion), it burns clean and is very fuel efficient and quite smooth.
Really there is no reason you should get the JD, obviously that is an opinion--which you asked for---and that is why I have two Kubotas.

Crown, I also looked at both the 4100 and the 7500. What convinced me to buy the Kubota was the fact the JD dealer said I could NOT put a backhoe on the 4100. sherbs

last year I went thru the same dilema. put both advantages and disadvantages on the scale and the 7500 won. i even have a jd dealer down the street from me and the kubota dealer is 20 mi away. for 2500.00 i will keep my cash in the bank and be a proud kubota owner. btw I would go for the r-4 tires.
