Yes, my Bosch dishwasher didn't last 1 year and wouldn't clean anything properly. We put it out on the porch and eventually took it to the tip. It still looked like new.
We are onto our 4th microwave in about 3 years. No, we don't bother fixing them if they are crap. Fancy name brands too some of them. We are now running a new LG one and it just works. Faster and quieter than any of the others. We now run a LG dishwasher and LG washing machine and I won't even look at other brands now. Now we take the 6 year full replacement warranties for around $40

OOPS sorry Red Horse... got off track there....

No problem-all good info! Microwave?? We have a $900 GE-only problem is paint is flaking-they say it can't be fixed!

When we built the new house we just picked what we liked. Kitchen aid ovens and fridge. Viking dishwasher. GE induction cooktop. And we brought our jenn air convection oven/microwave with us. It's a hodgepodge but we got exactly what we wanted, no longer cared about the "suite".

Looks very nice.

I haven't had any problems with it. Maybe due to having a water softener?

We have one also. Open it up after a few days and it's gut wrenching. Don't know what it's deal is.

On the clothes washers we use the Oxi Clean brand. It totally gets rid of the mildew smell and is septic safe. I have not had a problem with the dish washer.

Prior to using Oxi Clean my day job shirts stunk which made me stink. I still mix Oxi Clean with some of the green plant based stuff to save the planet :D but the wife uses all Oxi Clean. So I stink a little and she doesn't stink.

I'll pass that on to my wife. I get what I call summer sweat and it's stinky. Almost like a sweet smell and she has fits cleaning my clothes. Also seems like certain clothes come out smelling good but within a few mins of wearing them they stink. That oxyclean might be the ticket

Good tip on Oxyclean...

Reading this thread has me firmly in the replace as a last option category.

When I hear the long sagas of those I know with high end appliances it makes me glad for my circa 1960-80 stuff...

One rent home had a Jenn Air Cook-top that I was always spending $500 between renters... my solution was to remove and replace with a sub $200 drop in... so far... 3 years with no issue.

I get what people are saying about service... my brother bought higher end for his home... the front loader pair had lots of issues... the service guy came out for $115 and said the 3 year old pair was not worth fixing... brother got online and found many with the similar problem and was able to fix it himself... it was a software issue that amounted to a reboot... also spent $300 on the Bosch Dishwasher and didn't fix the problem... told him standing water is a valve that leaks and it costs $40...

The real SAD state of things is when your average homeowner with Internet is more effective than Factory Service...

The 1960 Avocado Kenmore Dryer conked out after 50 years of faithful service... went to the independent Appliance Parts store and walked out with a new belt for under $5 and good to go.

Well guys, problem solved-for 190 bucks a glass co. got some tempered glass, cut it, drilled it to accept the handles and mounted it in the front stainless panel. I'll let you know when I get it back together and the first time she fires it up-fingers crossed.

Excellent, I'm sure it will do just fine. The glass co might want to advertise and go into the replacement JennAir glass business :D
