Thanks I'll look into it. You provided me with some great information!

btw - Have you taken a pint or so sample of your hyd oil (need to run everything as much, as hot, as reasonable), put in clean, dry, glass jar. Sealed, and let it sit in the house. See if any water/moisture was present? Usally the oil will be kinda milky instead of clear. Hyd oil must be clean, clean, clean, and dry, dry, dry.

Does your Tractor show any signs it might have been sitting in deep water? Wondering with all the floods and hurricanes, etc, that maybe ...

Keep at 'er....

It was kinda cloudy.

Water could explain all of you symptoms and gear failures. Definitely need to purge system of water if that's the case. I wonder if a water separator could be added to the tank return?

I've decided to flush the entire system and use new filters. Since I don't live where the tractor is the only filters I can get available right now are at Napa. And since I'm likely going to have to flush it again, I'm not going to spend a fortune on oil. Just putting in the Walmart brand which has good reviews. Then I'll post what happened.

Maybe you just do like SirMaxell said take oil sample in a clean container and let set in a warm place and let settle to see if the oil clears up and if the there water in it You said that the hyd./Trans. Fluid has been change when the front axel was repaired and when the PTO Gears replace and that you change hyd.Trans. Fluid twice since you had it and 15 hours of used the Tractor. Unless there it water get in some place else. I would change the filters to see if that helps. because the oil goes through filter first the to the Hyd. pump you may have filter the are partly plug from the PTO gears repair.See if this improves the Hyd. them you can decide if the Fluid needs flushing and Changing.

I'm ordering new filters and going to put new fluid in, too. I used the bucket to raise the tractor, backed out the drain plug almost all the way until fluid started dropping. Since the water is heavier, I assumed water would come out first. None did. Your idea about crud from the gears makes sense. Unfortunately I will be away for a few weeks so won't be able to report back for several weeks. If the jerking does not change, then maybe the pump?

Maybe buy the time you get back in few weeks the out side Temp. should be a lot warmer then it is now. Hyd./trans. Fluid should flow a lot better and you be able to start the tractor and see if the hydraulic work better then when temp. was at 10 degrees and it would be better to warm the oil up and the hydraulic performance improved this tell us that the fluid is to heavy to use in cold Weather. Warming the oil up will help when change oil & filter. Before you remove Hyd. pump you want to check the suction line from the rear hyd. filter to hyd. pump. On the top of pump there is flange with 2 bolt holding it to the hyd. pump remove and check the o-ring between the to for cracks, being hard or missing. Also on the rear steel oil ling filter body there o-ring in the housing check that.Check the steel lines for cracks, something rubbing a hole in. There is hose with 2 hose clamps in about the middle of the suction line.Check hose for cracks, being hard, swelling or lose hose clamps. This hose is oil resistance. Check the Hyd. pressure this can be done by remove loader quick coupling and putting in pressure gauge.
