Jerking loader, 3 point hitch and weak front wheel assist

I would definitely go with a synthetic hydro oil. It makes a big difference in cold weather. I find the dealers around here no longer use the official New Hoilland fluids, and they're not easy to find. Kubota makes a synthetic that I believe is rated for NH. Cloudy hydro oil is not a good sign, and I think you are doing the right thing by changing it and the filters, but I wouldn't use just any brand filters for this purpose. There are a good many videos on line that show that OEM filters are superior to the ones you buy in stores.
Messicks is online and can get you OEM parts in a hurry.

Thanks for the reply.
I just got back in town Wednesday night. I am changing the hydro fluid with Rotella and using Wix filters. I have read that a lot of folks say the Rotella is good in cold weather. The synthetic fluid is just too expensive to put in this old tractor which may also need a hydraulic pump. As soon as I get it done I will post the results. Thanks for everyone's input. Hoping things get better!!

I changed the oil. Crystal clear. No water or crud. Changed the filters. No obvious issues. I made a hydraulic pressure gauge, hooked it to my QD at the loader and when I moved the joystick it immediately read 1500 PSI. Still jerking both the loader and the 3 point hitch movement. When I press the pedal to move forward or back it makes a bit of a groan some of which is likely normal. Louder than it should, I think. When I originally I disconnected the QD to put the gauge in, the little bit of oil looked foamy. I also noticed one of my new loader hoses is leaking at both ends where it is crimped. Don't know if this is an issue.

I looked for any obvious hose/piping kinks. It looks good. Would there be that much pressure if the pump was bad? It seems to take a bit of time before the hydraulics work, like having to build up pressure or volume. Not sure. Any ideas?

Did you used the tractor to get the hydraulic oil warm (hot) or cold before checking ? Need to check at both temperatures at the loader quick coupler with the engine at FULL RPMs do you have a rear remote hydraulic coupler check that the same way. When having the oil warm (hot) when checking the hydraulic oil pressure this will tell you if the oil is bypassing in the hydraulic pump. in the loader circuit Pressure should be 1750 PSI. rear coupler Pressure should be 2130+/- 70 PSI. Let me know what you find. I do not have my shop manual in front of me I am a snow bird in Az. now will not be back home in Minnesota for another month.

It's been a while since I posted. I replaced a faulty loader hose. The loader, 3 point were jerking and the hydrostat trans groaning. When I took the hose to Matzka to get a new hose and told the technician that the oil looked foamy he said that's not the pump, but an air leak causing the foaming. So, after I put on the hose I ran the tractor, loader back and forth multiple times, for maybe 30 minutes and the jerking stopped and worked smooth. The 3 point did the same. I drove the tractor and no groaning noises as all. So, I figured there must be air getting in to the system somehow. I checked the filter to make sure it was tight, looseded the "T" hose and re-tightened it. Checked what I could to make sure everything was tight. Then I let the tractor sit for a day. Started it up and the same groaning, jerking stuff. Any idea where air might be entering? At least I've got it down to that.

These issues did not start until I got the tractor back from the New Holland dealer after they changed the hydraulic oil. They told me it's just air and will work itself out. Apparently something is causing this.

Go back to post #29 it tells where to check for air might be entering.

Ok, I started the old boy up today and worked the tractor for about 20 minutes, lifting stuff like logs, etc. The jerking went away, however, another loader cylinder hose started leaking at the fitting. This is the second one to do this and they are about a year old. Got them online. Won;t do that again. Is it possible that this hose leaking could cause the issue? I'm going to get another loader hose tomorrow. Is this possible? It seems that the fluid would flow back to the sump area. I checked the 2 bolts and tightened them about 1/2 turn along with the filter housing bolts. If I remove these parts will I lose a lot of fluid? The fluid was foamy. Almost like water but on closer inspection, they are tiny, tiny bubbles.
Thanks for your help. I am really learning about this thing and that has value in itself.

No the leaking loader hose is not the cause the issue. Would not because the loader control is before the loader cylinder hose . Air leak in the suction line and being suck to the hydraulic pump is causing foaming oil. This runs from the rear hydraulic filter housing to the top of hydraulic. You said that tightened 2 bolts were they on top suction flange on the hydraulic pump? Remove the 2 bolts and check the O-Ring between the flange & hydraulic pump to if it bad? Then check oil suction line for hole. Have clean pail ready to catch oil there should be some oil . If you remove the filter housing it will all most drain lot oil.

I am sorry I never got back, Lefthanded. I did exactly what you suggested and the hydraulics work excellent.

Lots of stuff going on in life and have been away from the tractor quite a bit.

Thank You!
