Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

OK, haven't posted any pics in awhile, but I've still been working on it. Just not a lot. F-I-L was renting a trencher this weekend to run a waterline to a trailer that their other daughter is putting on their property so he said while he had it I could use it too. I decided I didn't want to dig under the foundation of the house I would just T off just before it went under. I ran the line, therefore, I knew exactly where it was right? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Wrong /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'll post a few pictures and then I'll show you how a lazy man with a tractor and loader that thinks it is a backhoe finds a water line. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif This is a picture of the trench going around the sidewalk that I poured a couple of years ago and under the driveway back to the garage.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Another shot of the trench a little closer to the garage. The little cross section you see is where I've trenched for the 2" conduit I'm putting in for the electric. Started glueing the PVC together last night. Forgot to run a rope through, so I'll have to fish that through before I bury it.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

A better picture of the electric trench. After I trenched 300' for the F-I-L and about a 150' for me, me and the trencher weren't getting along real well. It wasn't cutting like it should've for whatever reason and you had to really work it to get it to cut. Couldn't turn the thing at all. So at this point I wasn't in the best of shape to be manhandling it and wasn't in the best of moods and the fact it was over due back, I didn't quite get the electric trench like I wanted, but I've had the pipe in there so it'll at least work.

This is a closer view of the trench running beside the garage so that line comes up close to where I'm going to put the sink and possible urinal /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. I'll still have to dig and run a pipe for the drain.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

As I said in this first installment, I knew right where the water line was. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The trencher completely missed it. I dug a little bit with a pick and shovel and decided that was for the birds. The wife wasn't home to talk me out of it. So I took the tractor back to the garage. Took the MMM off and put the cutter on the rear. What you see here is the pile of dirt after about 45 minutes or so and a really dirty look from the wife when she pulled in the driveway and I disappeared before her eyes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is a view of the tractor down in my hole. BTW, I had finished digging by this point. I drove the tractor back down in the hole just so I could get a picture for TBN.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

I was really getting in there. Even the cutter was starting to go down into the hole.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Last one for now. If you look real close, beside the tire print on the left at about the second steep drop you will see the actual water line. I found it, and didn't cut it - that made it easier to T. Too bad the same can't be said for the phone line. I knew I was going to though, I knew where it was and I had to cross it at 90. Wasn't much of a way I was going to avoid it. They are supposed to come out today and fix that. I did manage to fill the big hole in last night, but I still have to cover the trench back up. I'll do that after I get the electric conduit in and they have the phone line fixed. I might have to borrow the neighbor's blade a landscape rake to "fix my fun."
