Well, the optima will still be better at vibration resistance than a plain old light duty car/truck battery.

If you get 3 years out of it, smile and get another one. Don't feel bad. Both my Nh tractors had OE NH batteries go out at the 3 year mark. Both were replaced with a HD battery, either interstate, or napa.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I had an old Pontiac that used to do that. It would start sometimes and not others. The starter setup is practically the same. I replaced solenoids, Replaced battery then took it to an auto electric specialist. They found a flat spot on the starter armature. Long story short, I replaced the starter and never had the issue of intermittent starts again.
