Chipper Jinma chippers

Dougster. I had mine dropped off at a depot a few years ago too. The put a chain on the fork lift, hooked it up to the steel shipping cage and loaded it into my 1500 lb capacity 4x8 utility trailer. I figured it was easier than bringing my big trailer. I unloaded it using the FEL and a chain on my tractor.

I "uncrated" it, put the chain back on, lifted it up, blocked it with 6x6 & 4x4 scraps and then proceeded to put the base and other attachments on it. I kept the chain attached until I was finished. The thing is a brute and I'm very happy I bought it.

Some afterthoughts for you though.
I found the arms that attach to the 3PH were weak as they were slotted to allow (unnecessary) adjustment of the mounting bolts. Since the unit weights close to 1000 lbs and my land is bumpy & irregular, it put a lot of stress on the arms and bent one badly. I would suggest replacing the arms with solid steel before you install the stock ones.
Also, make sure you have flat rocks or wood to place under the base of the unit so you can get the PTO shaft close to level. Let the unit clear once in a while too as stuffing it nonstop leads to clogs.
I suggest checking and maybe replacing the zerks. Some don't fit the gun well (too small) and some may need a 90 degree offset to make access easier. If I remember correctly, the PTO shaft ones were a PITA.

Helps to take care of this stuff in advance of using the unit. Obviously, check all bolts to make sure they're tight before using the it.

Eye & ear protection are a MUST. Enjoy & be safe.

Thanks John - All good thoughts... some of which I had already picked up and a couple brand new ones.

I think I'm still going to bring my 20-ft low-boy equipment trailer if I can get it out of my driveway with the new "mini-Grand Canyon" now sitting at the bottom of my driveway! Much better for easy, damage-free forklift loading and tight equipment tiedown. It's overkill... I know... but best not to take chances damaging the new chipper or dump trailer's metal floor/doors or having tiedown problems. Stuff can bounce around like crazy back there (in the new dump) on our bumpy, rutted roads! I learned that lesson the hard way last week!

I haven't read all the improvements , but in case this wasn't in them, I put a baffle on each side of my feed roller at a steep angle. Here in the midwest the Honeysuckle vines are everywhere. The baffles help keep some of them from wrapping up around the feed roller as the limb goes in.

Kays Supply, would it be possible for you to post a photo or two of your fix? Honey suckle vines are not the problem in these parts but what I call 'wait-a-minute' vines sure are. I would like to see what you have done.

The Jinma Chippers are made at the Jinma Tractor factory,the way you can tell the difference is the feed release handle is at the top and they do not have the yellow push bar.Alot of the parts will inter change,the problems I have seen on the other brand was on the bolts that hold the blades on are not recessed and can cause clogging, as well as they used hex head bolts on the flywheel that did the same thing

Late Update - I have confirmed in no uncertain terms that I bought a genuine Jinma chipper from a genuine Jinma authorized dealer. And it is, in fact, exactly as described by Tommy!

No more wondering about my Chinese copy of a Chinese chipper! For better or for worse, I own an original! I will now adjust my profile accordingly!

If you want a possible deal on a "Genuine Jinma Chipper", do a search for "Mulch Dog Chipper" on Ebay. They just sold three 6" er's for $810 the other day in a Dutch auction, and three 8" er's the day after for $1058. I got in on the 8". Still don't know how genuine it is, but I will make do with what I get. Cost $275 to ship from southern Indiana up here to northern Michigan. [**** global warming, had to fire up the furnace last night, got down to 35]

Figured out that more people would wize up on the 8" ones, but the third lowest bid was only $1058. The seller had three more 6" ones listed the next day, but he pulled the sale, and is now selling the 6" individually. But he is listing them under chipper/shreader, instead of wood chipper, so maybe most people, when they search for a wood chipper, doen't get to his item. We'll see. [up to 42 degrees already, %#%@ global warming...]

Jerry... You won the freakin' lottery on this one! Holy Cow!!! Looks like I just overpaid by at least $400 to $500 depending on shipping. Too late now however... I've long since paid the bill.

I think this new seller has just rewritten the rules on Chinese chippers!!!

Being the windshield once and awhile keeps life interesting, but you know you are usually still going to be the bug the next time. So, you have to keep things in perspective, especially us old retired farts. [Zoomed up to almost 46 degrees now, a regular heat wave.]

Actually, looking at the timing of those two 3-unit Dutch auctions... essentially giving away six chippers well below dealer cost... no wonder no one else overbid my minimum bid in my auction!!! My seller should be dancing for joy that I was so blind.

Hi Jerry - For the roughly $400.00 I could have saved, I would have gladly taken red & yellow instead of green & yellow... and is anyone really sure yet whether an original Jinma is truly better than the copies???

I figure that no matter what arrives, I'm going to go over it like the mechanical engineer that I am... or at least used to be... and replace anything and everything that is even remotely questionable. This is not a device with which I feel like taking chances.

I am still the bug... and you are still the windshield! Enjoy man!!!

The chippers that they are selling are the Jinma copys,as Jinma does not build or sell a 8" chipper.Hey if it works and they fixed the problem areas go for it.I will stick with the original ones.I know how they are made and have all the parts for them

Will do. Probably won't fire it up much untill this fall. I plan on doing some of the mods, and mounting it onto a couple treated timbers for a stand, so it won't fall over, and to line up the PTO shaft. I have a JD driveshaft for a small 5' mowing deck that I might try to install to run the feed roller.

There is a cheapo square drive flex-shaft that runs the feed roller. There is a thread around here somewhere about a guy that replaced this drive shaft with one that has universals at each end. It's one of the weak links in the Jinma/Jinma clone/clone of Jinma/copy of a copy of Jinma chipper.......now, feel better??? If you find the right thread, there is a video of the new setup in action. [ Even comes with sound, and popcorn if you have time ]

Nice looking chipper..... I like the huge chute for the feed. How much does the flywheel weigh ? Five knifes sounds interesting. I found a Jinma dealer about 60 miles north of my location. They bumped the price to 2700. Do they come standard with a power feed ?
