Dougster,I have not seen that shaft yet,but would like too,thats one weak point on the Jinmas,if you exceed the 6"limit,it will break a knuckle.If someone gets a pic of it please send it to me,

I hooked mine up and put it to work today. I'm very pleased with it, no problems whatsoever and cleaned up a big mess consisting of oak, pine, poplar, hickory, gum, and holly trees today. Chip sizes vary a bit depending on hardness, but it ate them all with no problems. I ran some trees through it that pushed the size limit as well.

Thanks JPM. Obviously, you've already got one! Any specific tips for running one off a Mahindra 4110 other than the general tips & lessons learned already posted here?

Mine is going to a depot rather than coming directly here to the house. Assuming I can get my equipment trailer out of my driveway by the 18th (they are rebuilding... more like destroying... my street and it is currently "trapped"), it will be loaded onto my equipment trailer with a forklift at the depot. I'll just need to get it off the equipment trailer and into the driveway where I can uncrate it and assemble it. Seems that the FEL should be able to handle 900 pounds or so of crated Chinese chipper... yes? If too awkward, I can uncrate it right on the 20-ft equipment trailer and take it off in pieces.

I am pleased to here yours worked so well as I am considering one and was wondering how it would do on dried wood ? I have a few piles that have been pushed up and laying for over a few years that need cleaning and with the dry weather I can't even think of burning. I guess my question is does anyone have experience with dried wood Oak , Pine, Sweet gum , etc.?????

Sounds like a lot of your customers (including us here) will be needing this "mod" or "upgrade" sooner or later. It would be great if you could figure out how to offer a complete do-it-yourself upgrade kit.

So I'll figure it will take me 6 hours 'cause any such thing takes me three times as long as it should now that I'm an old man!

Hi Jerry - Got a nifty tool box in the back of the pick-up truck that makes things kinda tight. Much easier... at least before "Death Valley" ... to move and unload anything heavy/large on or in one of the two trailers.

Just met with the town engineer and got no relief whatsoever in regard to the new "Grand Canyon" at the bottom of my driveway. My new "old version" Jinma-made Chinese copy of a 13-year old mystery Chinese chipper may have to wait a while at the depot before I can pick it up.

I've chipped wood in just about every stage from fresh cut to darn near petrified. It works fine on anything. Real old stuff will be practically turned to dust and you'll have to let it run a few extra seconds before feeding in the next piece so it doesn't clog up. Just stay away from wet, soggy stuff and watch out for old nails, barbed wire & stones in the roots.

Hmmmm... Michigan... sounds a lot like Minnesota to an Easterner like me... and that sounds pretty dang cold 51 out of 52 weeks of the year! Or has Al Gore brought some global warming hype to your state?

Town engineer says that the brand new "Grand Canyon" stays and it will be up to me to do something with my driveway... which has served me well as it was for 32 years. His excuse is that the road is not pitched enough toward the storm basin just down from my house... so they sure did pitch it... ALL on my side of the road and ALL in front of my house! And are you ready for this one: He says my econobox, truck, Vette and trailers are "all too close to the ground"!!! (Reminds me of an old fat-short girlfriend joke!)

Good thing I have the means to widen and re-grade it myself after they leave... but until then, I am screwed.

Some of the wood I ran through it was extremly dry. When the builder cleared my lot last spring they caught a small section of woods on fire, some of those trees where dead and still standing and very dry.

Well, the Jinma copy of a 13-year old Chinese Chipper finally arrived at the truck depot late yesterday afternoon... so I'm off to pick it up (assuming I can get the equipment trailer across the Grand Canyon). Lady who called from the truck depot was funny: The shipping docs call it "agricultural equipment"... a thousand pounds worth... and I guess they are not used to seeing that kind of thing come through in a suburban setting. Or maybe she just couldn't figure out what it was through the vinyl cover. She just had to know what the heck it was! I explained the whole thing... right down to the "copy of a copy" story.. and she still thought it sounded crazy.

Well... Maybe it is. We shall soon find out!

Well, I got the trailer out... after digging a much wider driveway with the tail end... and the new chipper is sitting outside on the trailer as we speak! Now I've got to get it off that dang trailer... and stupid moi: I left the dump trailer blocking the Red Beast's garage door. Meanwhile they are still working on the street... probably trying to make the Grand Canyon even deeper... and there are $75.00 an hour duty cops crawling all over the place (a phenomenon unique to corrupt Taxachusetts). This is going to require some fancy maneuvering on Dougster Mountain!!!

And still... they kept asking at the depot what the hang is in this crate??? Do they do this to everyone? Is it some kind of 9/11 security related thing? What is it about this Chinese copy of a Chinese chipper that makes folks ask so many questions??? Do they think it is a Chinese copy of a nuclear weapon???

Congrats Dougster on your chipper and "fixing" your driveway !

I just bought a 6" Jinma today and am setting it up. I couldn't tell from your recent photos, but do you plan to change out all the grease zerks? The original ones that came with mine were 5mm brass ones that'll probably strip out.

EDIT: Oops (you're still getting this monster unpacked, sorry for the questions ahead of time. I'm excited to get mine running full time too.)

Also, did you set your knife to anvil clearance within the 0.01-0.03" stated in the manual? Hopefully the runout on the flywheel will not be a problem with those distances. The chipper looks like it'll do the job, especially for the price. The flywheel is pretty beefy. I was impressed at how quiet it was at 540rpm. The other thing I did was apply Fluid Film to the knives, cutting blade and chute hoping that it will help keep everything running smoothly. Oh, I changed out the oil too, just as a precaution. I'm excited about using this and hope it'll last.
