John Deere 2010 Bad??

Still loving my 2010 however I have noticed the hydraulics have slowed a bit when cold in the am. I am wondering what I should be looking for when it might be time to change hydraulic filter ? where can get one ? where is it located in the tractor ? how do I change it. I want to repack the bucket cylinders over the winter and change this filter also.

Its a screen as Tx Jim clarified. Your slowness is due the difficulty of pulling/sucking the cold hyd fluid thru the screen, which may be somewhat clogged. After you clean it you have the optimum. If good enuf - great. If not you have to live with warmup. You can speed hydraulic warmup by holding the bucket in curl at low idle. This will warm the oil relatively quickly.

It's confusing because in 2010 parts catalog the hyd sump screen is referred to as a filter but in reality it's a fine mesh metal screen.

Well that helps . I was searching the interweb globe for a cartridge filter . I am not sure of the condition of the filter in my tractor being as how I just bought it. The tractor its self is in really good shape so I will assume regular maintenance was enjoyed by it. There where a few issues that I already fixed that probably would not be on a regular maintenance schedule. I have repacked the main cylinders on loader and plan to repack the bucket cylinders when the weather turns colder they work but there where tears in the cups of the mains and considering their condition leads me to want to investigate. When I do this I will clean the filter as the oil levels will go down due to procedure. I am still pretty excited about my tractor and I am very happy with how my property is looking with its use. Being new to tractors but old hat to mechanics a little information goes a long way . I want you guys to know that your advice and information goes a long way and I am grateful for it. Thank You

Where is a good source of parts and where can I get a repair manual? I will need a engine oil filter unless that is a mesh also ?

IIRC engine oil filter part number is AH1111RT and should be available many places

I assume that is the dome I see on the side of the engine ?

Yes. I can't get JDparts.com pricing to cooperate this AM but a 2010 hyd screen is about $125 and there were 2 different lengths.

I am sure the screen that I have in the tractor will be fine after a kerosene bath/scrubbing and a blast of air @ 150 psi.
