Well turns out the coupler was defective. Had it back up and running in just over an hour after getting an new coupling $14.25 from JD. Thank you again for all the advice.

Ok I have the same problem with my 2520 I did all prior discussed (no leaks, check hydraulic level, removed pressure, checked seating, chased line (black), replaced female Q D, swapped lines with curl and curl still works and lift won't) and my bucket still won't lift!!! What now...?

Girltractor,
Does the loader look like it try's to lift at all?

If you feather the control to raise the loader very slowly will it lift?

Do you any down force? I.e. Will it lift the front of the tractor?

If yes to any of the above I would suspect one of the Quick disconnect halves are bad. Could be either the male or female half.

Good luck

thanks for reply Oldnslo,

Does the loader look like it try's to lift at all? Yes, it tries

If you feather the control to raise the loader very slowly will it lift? i will try that in the a.m.

Do you any down force? I.e. Will it lift the front of the tractor? yes, I can go down and lift my tractor.

If yes to any of the above I would suspect one of the Quick disconnect halves are bad. Could be either the male or female half. I replace the female side and nothing changed. Then I switched the lift (black) with the curl (blue) and lift still doesn't work and curl does<(

...help

Girltractor,
When trying to raise or lift do both hoses get stiff or swell like they are under pressure? I suspect yes since you state the loader is trying to lift. This would indicate the quick disconnect in rod end of the lift cylinders is faulty. I would suspect the half that is connected to the control valve.

If neither hose gets stiff or swells this would indicate the quick disconnect on the blind or cap end of the cylinders is faulty. I would suspect the half on the hose going to the loader but this again is a guess.

Roy it sounds like she only switch one hose not the pair.

Well I just got done working on i with no success....there goes my manicure! lol

just to recap: 2520 John Deere all loader functions work except lift. no leaks, check hydraulic level, removed pressure, checked seating, chased line (black), replaced female Q D, swapped lines with curl and Lift still will not work. I GOT IT TO LIFT ONE TIME...and that was when i disconnected the Q D and on the male side i pressed the piston multiple times on a flat surface, then i smacked it sideways on the ground, hooked it back up, turned it over and the loader raised... ONE TIME and Lowered...that was it. I talked to my JD Service guy and he said the male side of the Q D never go bad. the last thing he said today before they closed (Sat - close at 12:00) He thinks there is something wrong with the valve block. What do i do to check that??? Pleeeeese advise

....also

I don't know what you mean Leejohn when you say "it sounds like i only switched one hose not the pair"

Oldnslo, I don't see any swelling when i try to engage LIFT but since i have it free from the metal plate at the color coded area it does jump there. also if i closed my eyes and pressed the lever to LIFT i would think it did...because it still makes the same sound. there is not a weird or different sound or a sound of it bogging down. And yes, i can Lift my tractor off the ground because all other functions work

Both halves can fail on QD's. By swapping the lift and curl circuit you have eliminated the valve since curl works on both and lift fails on both.

Qd's are much cheaper than than valve parts and much more likely to fail.

So you are saying it is not a valve problem that it is the male side of the QD that I should replace?
