Ummm, I'd rather not...... lol!!! I'm pondering just leaving it the way it is, or making a new one.....

Thank you!!! Yes, that is all by hand!!!! It took me about a total of 30 mins, with 2 coats.

Like I said, I'm impressed.

BTW, is there anywhere I can get a complete wiring harness??? Besides John Deere?

Have you tried ebay? Typically there are a few guys on e-bay parting out a whole machine. The wiring harness is usually one of the listings on a teardown like that.

Here's one for $20 +shipping... JOHN DEERE 300 312 314 316 317 WIRING HARNESS | eBay

Well, today I pressure washed it, covered the engine and wiring, after undoing it. Needless to say I got a decent amount of **** off, but there is alot that wont come off, im thinking about pulling the motor and hanging everytging from our skidsteer, and washing it that way.

That's not a bad idea. You might also consider a degreaser of some kind. Most parts stores will have an engine degreaser like Foamy Engine Bright. If you just have a few spots that need cleaned, carb cleaner does a great job, too. In either case, you need to add a healthy dose of elbow grease. A good soft bristle scrub brush does a great job.

When was the last time to changed your toothbrush? Maybe it's time to change your toothbrush again.

Put her back together with a little "help" from my friend and rode around in the snow with him and his ford, wired it wrong, the starter was on the whole time. I'l tear it back down again, then probably finish up the sanding, and start to paint by next week.

Got her torn down again, masked off the tag, removed the ignition decal and part of the hood decals. Im going to take some black and yellow touch up paint, and make it look like the very front of the decals. Also painted the front of the frame, all the way to the brakes, on both sides, and the front axle, rear "bumper" i guess and the rear axle. Getting all my paint and everything tomorrow, so excited!!!!

Went and got all my paint and bodywork stuff today, got filler, sealer, hardener, resto yellow, tsc didnt have a qt of resto green, so i got the cheapo version. And resto hardener. Got started on the hood with sanding, then filler, and more sanding. I'll have to do the same thing tomorrow.... Also removed all of the wheels, i have it up on 4 jack stands right now. Cant do any painting for a while, we have a fire truck in the shop... Oh well........

   / John Deere 317 project! #72
Doing a nice job Brockway.

One thing you should do is check to see if the hardeners for the paint are the same.
Valspar makes two different hardeners for the regular and one for the resto paints. They might mess up all the good work you did if the hardeners don't work together.

Make sure you have a good respirator for painting if you are spraying with hardener. That can be a killer if you if you get it in your lungs.

Also took the brake pedals apart, going to paint them aswell. And I painted the hydro levers, they came out good!! Finally, i taped off the decals on the hood. Its coming together!!

Have you been keeping track of your expenses on this project. It would be interesting to know what it costs to do this nice of a restoration.

Hahahaha!! I saw those on another site, yes, I have been keeping all my invoices, etc. Today I got the other seat spring painted, put one of our stickers on my seat, and sanded more of the fenders. Got an idea to get thin diamond plate, and bend it to fit the spot where the foot grips would be, and put 3M Double Sided tape on the bottom to secure it.

Hi,

I have the;

A. John Deere 317 Operator Manual

B. John Deere 317 Hydrostatic Tractor Parts Catalog

I saw on the other Thread that you wanted them both.

As they said nothing is FREE, but there is a way if you are willing to take a little time out to Convert / Merge them....

I have all the .JPG Files and can ZIP it and send it to your Email. You must use two SITES to turn them to .PDF Files....

Here are the Instructions:

1. Unzip all the .JPG.
2. Use PDF Converter - Convert to PDF Online Free to Convert to PDF ... 1, 2, 3 ...so om...
3. Use PDFMerge! - Merge PDF files online for free. and Merge all the Pages together ... 1, 2, 3 ...so on..., so you can have them like a Book Manual.

If you want them.... Private me with your Email, I will send it to you. Once you have Both done, send it to the other Guy that needed too... :thumbsup:

It will take about 15 mins or less to do... Maybe more cause there are 79 Pages for the Catalog... But worth it, since it's FREE, LOL

Examples Below;

RGS...

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a lifesaver!!!! Will do!! I appreciate you doing this!!!
So today, I had a 2 hour delay from school, so I went up and installed the second seat spring, and this afternoon, I put more filler on my hood, hopefully the last time I will....., and i'm going to sand it tomorrow. My dad stopped by the dealer and my shoes arent in yet. Not a big deal, they arent holding me up. And removed the hitch and put primer on it, put new nuts on the 2 bolts aswell. Here is the other green i got too!!
