I'm not talking about a generic manual. You can get pdf's of JD Technical Manuals and just print the pages you need.

I have book cases of paper manuals. Pdf's are cheaper but I don't find them a easy to find info in as a paper manual. For looking up information once every few years a pdf is quite adequate.
The generic part was based on op price. Yes I know can get pdf's from Deere just not a fan. Could be handy but I like books I can take to the field, shop, and to my chair. I bought a IT manual once and still have it for my tractor but then bought the tech manual. You know when there is a difference of several hundred pages there just might be something not in the IT manual.

I like books better too but I can't justify the price. I can't justify the space in my shop either. I'll buy shop manuals for my own vehicles/tractors etc.

But it just gets too expensive to buy them for customers and then only use them once. For example a Ford T-xx series of manuals is over $800 CAD. And the newer stuff requires a $3000 - $5000 suite of software for your laptop just to get to the diagnostics in the tractor.

I agree that I&T manuals are just the bare basics. But they are sure a lot better than nothing. All the specs/info you absolutely need is there. And sometimes an I&T manual is all you can find for an old tractor.

Anyways I've side tracked this thread enough!
