Jd4310 having trouble cranking. Has anyone had trouble with fuel shut off valve stuck in off position. With the fuel solenoid removed . Putting my finger in solenoid hole the valve has no movement.

The fuel shutoff solenoid fail quite regularly so it is by no means uncommon. Fortunately the part is not expensive. Get a test light and make sure you are getting voltage to the solenoid before replacing to make sure the fuse or relay isn't bad.

The fuel solenoid works. The lever that it pushes in the injector pump is not moving it is bottomed out. I have the solenoid out of the injector pump.
You should be able to push the lever in with your finger. Has anyone ever tried to move the shut off valve with their finger?

Yes, get a pick with a hook or a 90* on 1 end..
If it’s really stuck u might wanna consider taking it off the engine.

How much in and out movement should it have. How hard is it to break this thing.
Sending a picture. The red arrow is the leaver I am working with. It has no travel at all. Would it hurt to put a slide hammer on it?

It’ll only move about an inch..
Get someone to crank the engine while u push/pull on the lever..
If u can’t get it to move, the control rack is stuck and u should STOP..
U don’t want to bend/break anything..
