John Deere 4310 Power Reverser Model
Hello Everyone,
First of all after much research & repair my husband finally got the John deere 4310 tractor running :-D

If anyone can help me out that would be great.
Now on to the valves part of the tractor.

On the tractor there is a VALVE-3 SPOOL SCV part #LVA10901. On the tractor we have, the valve spool is using 2 of the valves,
1 valve is not being used.
I am wondering what is the purpose of the 3rd spool? Since only 2 are being used.

My husband wants to do a top & tilt function on the tractor. Has anyone installed the top & tilt?
What about POWER BEYOND KIT?
There is also MID PTO which we are not sure about

Thanks,
Bonnie

The 3rd spool was for the "3rd SCV kit" from JD, it added the handle, linkages, hardlines, and couplers on the rear of the tractor to operate on addition device. The part number is LVB25084, they are getting hard to find now but if you search that you'll find lots of threads and pictures.

For a TnT setup , you need 2 spools, or you can add in a diverter to effectively "split" the single rear remote into two. We actually sell a kit for the newer series tractors to do this.

Moved to JD owning/operating. You might get more responses here. ;)

What is your question about the mid PTO?

Thank you so much Kenny for your response.
For the top & Tilt, we have the top option but no Tilt. Regarding the 3 spools, my husband was wondering can we use the 3rd spool for the tilt option?
My husband would like to use: 2 spool hydraulic joy stick with double acting
similar to the front loader. But separate for the rear.
Joystick loader control valve

ZEBRA,
My question regarding the MID PTO, it looks like someone snipped the wires for that function.

MID PTO solenoid, can you use this for a 3rd function? Or is this strictly for the MID PTO?
The REAR MID PTO solenoid was removed on our tractor. I am not sure why this is.

Below, I attached a photo of the snipped wire. My husband labeled the photo.

Regarding the snipped wires, I am not sure Why this would be snipped.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Maybe an arrow added to the photo of the snipped wire.. I don't see it.

Seems like a lot of trash and maybe the snipped wire is there somewhere.

I'm confused Bonnie, please clarify...
You have a front end loader (FEL) correct?
If so, the spools #1 and #2 are used for the that, lift/lower (joystick up/down) and dump/curl (joystick left/right).
You say you have the "top" or a hydraulic top link (HTL) already, so what is it plugged into and how do you control it now?

If you do NOT have a loader, then you can us the two spools you have and don't need the 3rd.

What about POWER BEYOND KIT?

The PB kit supplies a constant flow of hydraulic fluid to the rear of the tractor, its used for think that have their owns valves like a backhoe or a log spliter. You could add a joystick valve to this to control a TnT setup, this can be done even without JD parts if he's handy and has a basic understanding of hydraulics.

I don't see the snipped wire either. I guess for some reason they felt a need to disable it, if you don't have a need for it I'd just leave it be. It was used for a mid mount mower (MMM), front snow blower, or a front power broom.

The power beyond kit number is LVB25085. Power beyond requires a loop back to the system reservoir. You can use any open center spool valve configuration attached to it. So if you can find a good place to mount it you can have a valve with 1,2,3, or any number of spools connected to the power beyond circuit.

I think I've seen a couple of different options on the unused third SCV spool. I believe it's original intent was for a mower lift on a mid mount mower. I don't have the other option numbers handy but one kit used a cable to operate it and another kit just had a handle. The LVB25084 kit Ken mentioned has the direct handle according to the pictures. John Deere lists a LVB25311 Top and tilt kit (4210 - 4410) that requires the LVB25084 and a LVB25087 Diverter valve to operate it. All of this stuff can be fabricated from scratch with some mechanical abilities and the right fittings. It takes a lot of research but it can be done. The ports on the unused 3rd SCV are metric M18x1.5. The adapter used to convert it to a standard #8 ORB fitting is JD#38H5003. You may find this thread helpful.

The "snipped wire" is a plug JD uses to terminate unused options on the wiring harness. You will probably find another like it on the right rear which I think was for the trailer option. Mid PTO was an option. Not all the 4310s had a mid PTO. Mine doesn't. Does your tractor have the mid PTO splined shaft underneath? Does it have the second yellow knob on the right fender?

Here is the link to the operators manual in case you don't have it.

I just read in the operator manual that the third spool in the SCV also has a float position just like the loader lift. Not knowing that could mess a person up. :)
