John Deere 5050E
I've been having some issues lately but now I can't get the tractor to start at all. The lights on the dash will come on but when I go to turn the key there's nothing. I recently tried to let the water off of water separator and feel like something I had done then is causing me this issue. Any help is appreciated! Thanks and God bless

Does it try to crank, or just nothing when you turn the key?

Water separator draining should not affect anything unless you bumped some wires and now the starter doesn't "know" to work now.

Clean/tighten all four(4) battery cable connections. Load test battery.

This time of the year, when it's really cold, is when batteries die. Make sure you have a good battery.

No it doesn't crank at all I thought it was the battery but it was on 97% full charge. Tried hooking jumper cables to it and when I tried to start it never did but sounded like it was going to make my car die. Brought the battery home and let it sit on a trickle charger and the next day I went back connected it and it was weak to start but idled fine at about 1500rpm I let it run for about 40 min turned it off the following day changed the fuel filter and once I had I tried to start it and nothing again.

I have done this and the battery was at 13amps

Charge battery then have it load tested. It sounds like you may have high internal resistance (bad battery). If it's fine clean battery terminals and cable ends then tighten them securely - if you can move them they're not tight. Clean and tighten battery ground connection at frame.

Ok I didn't get the ground on the frame and I'll double check the rest of this. Ty and thanks everyone for the advice. Muchly appreciated!

Sounds like bad battery, especially since your car tried to die boosting it.

I agree that it sounds like the battery. HOWEVER! I've had problems with starting my 5055e for some time. Last time I spent an hour mowing then shut it off for lunch, came back out and it wouldn't start. Not even a click. There's a solenoid behind the dash that's in the start circuit so I replaced that. Did not fix the problem. (BTW - I've pulled the cold start sensor out of the circuit a long time ago) I ended up replacing the starter motor and it starts sooo much better. If you still have the original starter, you should consider replacing it with an aftermarket one.
