John Deere 855 Attachment Brackets

I purchased a John Deere 855 with 60 inch mower. Later I found a 47 inch 2 stage snow blower to mount on the 855. Everything works just fine. This spring when I removed the snow blower I thought that I could use the snow blower mounting bracket to mount the mower, since the bracket seemed to have the mounting slots. To my surprise the Draft Arms were not long enough to be able to latch in properly. So I had to remove the snow blower bracket and reattach the mower bracket. I wonder what the slots are for on the snow blower bracket since the snow blower does not use them?
