I have the imatch. I love it. Don't know if there's much difference between the different brands but I'm happy with what I have

The imatch is a quick hitch, it is just JD green. Are you looking for a cat 1 quick hitch or Cat2? Do they make a Cat 2 imatch? I have 2 cat 1 imatches and I like them. I would also look at the land pride quick hitches if you need a cat 2. In the cat 1 version it looks just like an imatch. The imatch is actually less than the Land pride quick hitch for the cat 1. I don't how much a cat 2 would be. I guess you know you have to have quick hitch compatible equipment.

Quick Hitches | Land Pride

There are also some cheaper quick hitches like the harbor freight Speeco knock off. The speeco quick hitches I have seen are not as nice as the imatch.

Here is a video I made comapring the harbor freight to the imatch.

Here is the imatch in action.

I have the cat 2. Unless you need it, id stay with cat 1. My hitch has a sticker of 580 or something. They are proud of them. I needed cat 2 for my mx7

I have two of the harbor freight cat 1 , and am very happen with them. One is mounted to a SSQA plate to use on loader and the other is on the 3pt. I looked at a I match the other day while getting a loader third function handle at deere dealer. I will say they have a nice fit and finish compared to the cheaper ones. But for 350 dollars they should have. 😄 that being said Mine has seen a bunch of heavy duty use and have had no issues.

My Harbor Freight quick hitch doesn't fit several of my implements -- mostly because the top link hook is too short. I'd say it is a 50/50 proposition. I would by an alternate, more expensive one if I had confidence it would fit better.

Is there a source for different shaped top-hooks? (I am not a proficient metal-worker!

It's not uncommon for a person with several implements to find that all will not hook up to a QH or imatch without modification.

Where I would be looking to make this decision is price. $350 for a CAT I hitch is terribly high. You can buy a very well built CAT II hitch for less in an off brand.

I use the snot out of my QH. It has to be well built and stout with quality materials. Being JD green with an imatch sticker does not guarantee that.

Didn't you break a elcheapo QH with a B series Kubota?

Yep. Northern Tool QH. Trying to find where I said to buy an "elcheapo" (translated to poorly built).

What I did say was $350 for a CAT I hitch is terribly high.

I'm not picking on JD's imatch at all. I'm just saying you are paying a LOT of money for green paint and an imatch sticker.

Wouldn't it be entertaining to know who builds JD's imatch??

Richard, My Land Pride QH was 450.00. That's a lot of money but there is no slop in it at all.

I have an older model JD quick hitch - without the adjustable top link - IIRC it was $300. The newer model, with the adjustable top link is; list price $358.

Also have the CatII model. Use the heck out of both of 'em! Really saves me a lot of frustration when hooking up the heaviest attachments - and helps keep down the flames and blue words outta my mouth!!

Your post sounded like you were against the imatch. Other than the Land pride quick hitch I am not aware of any other good quick hitches. There is a speeco quick hitch that Harbor Freight and Northern Tool quick hitch copy. The Speeco is not any nicer than the copies. Woods and Worksaver sell a quick hitch that looks just like the Speeco. The Speeco QH is $250, and it not worth saving the $100 IMO. Yes, $350 is a lot for 70lbs of metal but it does work good and holds up and I'm not sure the others will. I'm not one to buy something because of the brand but the imatch is the best value for a QH in IMO. I think land pride makes the imatch, they are they only the market that look like they do.

I hear ya. I never remove my CAT II QH. I have TnT on the Kubota so hitching to attachments is very easy.

On small CUT tractors you might notice the attachment being farther from the tractor using a QH. Front of tractor being lighter or the attachment being harder to control because of that distance. But on larger tractors that's not an issue.

If your problem with the HF QH is the same as mine, the problem is not the length of the hook, it's the interference from the bolts that hold the hook. Here is how I fixed it and still kept the hook adjustable.

Good clip -- I notice your IMatch has an adjustable, bolted-on top-hook. The Cat-1 models my dealer has, have a fixed position welded Top Hook. Are there different models ??

EDIT - I see AKFish's prior post answers my question -- newer models have movable hooks.

Thanks, I acutally have an imatch with an adjustable top hook and I have one with a fixed top hook. From what I have heard on here the fixed hook is no longer available but it is still on JD's website or at least it was the last time I looked. I don't see the need for the adjustable hook. I don't want to have to adjust the hook, I want my implements to be truly QH compatible. I prefer the one with the fixed hook. It works the best. If I could find another one I would nab it just to have a spare.
