Congratulations!!!! We need pictures. The x380 of course, but also the cart and its ..... "load" :)

Ok. After all, I just made the purchase of a new x380 with brush gard and 10p cart. Price point was what I was willing to pay. After pondering the facts just decided against spending more. Also, I am a little shy of used since dealers are so far away. If local I may have felt differently. The cart is actually for giving the three littlest ones a ride around the yard. I hope this will satisfy desire to ride with daddy. We will see how it holds up. It looks to be more of a man than my last mower. Thanks for all the insight. I enjoyed reading what you all had to say.

Congrats! Keep up on the maintenance and you won't have any probs for a very long time. Use common sense, and keep her greased up and she will cut lots of grass.

Another silly post- what is it with this forum? a 445 was a great machine in its day ( 20 years ago) still many going strong- have nothing bad to say about them- but they are not as good as today’s X7xx series machines- and this poster claims Deere is lying about selling a Kawasaki in them- poster needs to buy a clue? Don’t try to compare a 3k husky to a John Deere X7xx series. If you don’t think you would gain anything- you are posting in wrong forum- look for one called la-la land

I never said they lied about the VTwin Kal, I said the air cooled VTwin looks like a B&S. I also never said I wouldn't gain anything from the 700 series JDs.

Before you bash other comments why don't you actually read the posts. I compared my GT Husqvarna to the 300 and 500 series which it competes with, I compared my dad's 445 to the 700 series I saw in the show room.

All fair comparisons, I never said husky was better, I said I couldn't justify the cost difference because the JD's the same size as my Husky mows grass about the same, I also wouldn't say my GT is a garden tractor, I call it a lawn mower, I feel it wouldn't last long with ground engagement attachments but I could be wrong. The 445 could all day long and ask for more, that's a garden tractor, you can hook it to something and it will pull so hard the front end comes off the ground when deff lock is engaged, and my dads 445 has stood up many times.

Sure. I'll post a picture or two. Will pick up Monday or Tuesday. Cart was not put together. I figure if anything screws up on it I'll take it back to my local dealer and let them fix it. That's what I do with my larger tractor. They come for it, repair it and bring it back. Works pretty well that way. Now I'm looking at new small trailers. I have a 5x13. Might get a 6x10. Would like to drive on without having to worry about the deflector.

Did you get one of those Polly carts?

6ft wide trailer is mighty handy, we have a 6x12 PJ landscape trailer and it's been great, the expanded steel gate is awesome. IMG_7267.JPG

It was ordered with the side gate, can haul a quad sideways and a mower in the back. It's got a 3500lb axle.

Yes. A poly cart. I have no need for it but when I saw it I immediately thought of "hay ride" cart for kids. I think it dumps so I'll need to secure the latch. Also, I saw a trailer as you describe. And we do have a 4 wheeler. May need to think of that.

I'll tell you what, I'm a really big fan of those Polly carts, I used one for years behind a quad gathering wood in the woods and I absolutely loaded that thing down, never had a failure. I would load it full of chainsaws, gas, bar oil, water and a lunch and take off and cut all day, it would go everywhere the quad would. Popping over logs ext.

It was a black one from Home Depot that they threw in with a mower, at first I was like whatever, it's gonna be useless until I started using it, it quickly turned into the go to cart behind the quad. Also unlike the metal carts that sound like your banging on frying pans just rolling over the lawn, the poly carts are much quieter.

I stacked freshly split firewood in that cart as high as I could without the stack falling over, I'm sure it was above the 500lb limit and I would drive it in the woods, on hills, threw mud ext back to where my stack was. Still have that cart, just not at my place.

I also never had a issue of it dumping without me wanting it to dump, but grand kids are precious cargo.

I hear ya. Sometimes you don't know you need a certain tool until you get it. I need to find a square bale of hay for next weekend.

C’mon man- I’m trying to “work” with you- but I have to call you out on a few things. You said and I quote “the motor in the new x500-x700s looks like a B&S motor even know they claim it's a Vtwin “
News flash - it’s not only a Kawi twin, it’s a higher grade kawi engine than in your so called comparable Husky— The 445 is a great machine- the X7xx series is better in almost every comparable way- and believe me that takes nothing away from the 445, which is still a beast. I'm not afraid to say I'm a big fan of the 445, I have a good buddy who has one that looks like it just came off showroom floor.

As for your Husky competing with the X5xx series —not even close – do I really have to list the differences for you. I mean I can you if you want- suffice to say the X5xx is a garden tractor- I will grant you the huskies are competing with the X3xx series for sure - But I can assure you the Husky’s at present are not competing with JDx5xx or the better Simplicity garden tractors

Let's take a few steps back here, I will admit that it sounds like I was challenging the question of the Kawasaki motor, I will also admit I don't know any specs on the engine they use in there 300 and 500 series line other than its air cooled and says Vtwin Kawasaki and looks physically like a B&S. I didn't mean to put the motor down so I will retract that comment.

As for competing with the x3xx series and x5xx series, first off I will say I feel this is a pointless argument because I'm not saying husky is better, I'm saying I wouldn't gain much speed from mowing, enough to justify the price diff on the Deere's from what I currently have in my garage. I would gain a actual garden tractor with JD but that's besides the point on this particular point.

The mower I have is GT2454T which has a 24hp air cooled vtwin B&S, 54in deck, runs 5.5mph forward and 3.0mph in reverse.

Cast axles and everything is grease-able which really surprised me, pulleys on the deck ext. it has an electronic PTO switch and I don't have to pull up on the PTO switch every time I put it in reverse when I'm mowing. I even have a cup holder .

Edit: after a bit of research it would be comparable to a x390 but isn't far behind the lower x500 series.
