That's a good observation, nobody wants to believe they are vulnerable to that extent until it's too late.

From various threads about building, it seems basements aren't very common in that area. So, right, where do you go to be safe when your entire house is wiped out?

The logical answer is build homes with concrete safe rooms in them capable of standing up to a tornado IMHO. Such a room has multiple uses besides tornadoes. Or, build storm cellars like in the old days.
Dave.

You have touched on my feelings on this Dave. It seems like there just aren't as many places with storm cellers any more. I'm kind of suprised that local building codes in tornado prone areas don't require every house to have a small storm shelter/cellar built into the house when it's constructed.

Still 100 people missing, doubt anyone buried could still be alive. But I wonder of those 100 how many are really still buried in there, and how many are just on the list for other reasons.

If there is still 100 people still buried in there it's gonna get pretty ugly for those trying to recover the remains, and would lead me to think they don't have enough help :(

JB.

I hear about the missing and always remember a story about the Jarrel, Texas F5. A heard of cows disappeared. The scientists said they were vaporized, probably came back to earth as hail miles away.
