The float setting on my joystick (GC2310) seems to kick down into the locked position whenver the blade bounces.

I noticed this with the Loader on, but not a big deal then as I'm usually backdragging slowly. But, snow plowing is a different story. First snow today and I had to keep pressure on the stick to keep it in float. Is there a setting or some other way to lock the front hydraulics in float that I'm missing?

And this forum saved me a ton of trouble today. Seat switch either went bad or froze (I'm betting on the second). Jumped on here and of course someone had run into the same thing and lined out the DIY process to bypass ...fabulous. She's going back into the garage now and I'm hoping a good thaw will resolve.

Interesting question - I had the same experience with the float setting yesterday when I was clearing our first real snow, too.

Mine will (sort of) thaw in the garage before the next storm (forecast for tomorrow), but I will look forward to other posts - and possible solutions.

I bypassed that seat switch within about 2 weeks of getting the tractor earlier this summer.

I have to say that it was great fun to be out after dark using the tractor. I added 4 work lights which did a great job. And since it took me a fraction of the time to clear the driveway (by comparison to my tired old walk behind), I also cleared a path around the side and back of the house to keep access open for the propane and oil fill pipes.

Winter fun, to be sure! :D

Husky-- same issue here. While blowing snow yesterday, I found I had to hold the joystick "up" so it would stay in float; kept popping out when going over uneven ground. I don't remember that happening last winter. Don't know if that's normal or not, but easy enough to overcome- glad the 2310 has power steering!

Also had the problem with the seat switch last year, and have a jumper ready & waiting. So far I haven't needed it, however.

Try loosening up the screws on the detent cap of the lift spool (lift spool should have lnger cap), moving the joystick back and forth a little and retightening the cap. It could just be a minor alignment issue.

It's certainly not normal. The driveways that I blow are very uneven, side to side and front to back and the blower always floats over it well even with the wear bar flat down on the asphalt. The adjustment mentioned by jeepcj7 should help.

At risk of showing my ignorance (probably too late already) - where is the lift spool, what does it look like, and how do you access it?

Thanks,
Jay
(lost in Maine )

My guess is you have moisture in the cap and it is restricting your detent mechanism when it freezes. Take the cap off, clean well and re-grease. Should be good as new. If you should happen to need a new spring, I replaced my with an old VW brake pad retaining spring. Works perfect! Happy tractoring.

Thing,

Is the cap what is called the "Joystick Assembly" in the parts book? From the parts illustration it looks like that's a single unit. And where is the spring you describe?

Thanks,
Jay

Thing & DMW-- May I assume that there is (normally) no hydraulic fluid loss with removal of detent cap/spring assy?
