The float position on a FEL valve is the forth position, and is a detent. Once in detent, it stays there untl you pull the lever back to neutral. Regen can be the forth position with the bucket curl. In the third position, the bucket will tip normally, and if you go past the small ridge, in the fwd direction, you are in regen mode, or fast dump. When you release the bucket lever, it returns to neutral.

I'm really going to have to look at this more. It seems that whatever this valve is supposed to do isn't a float feature. It will only feed fluid out. I don't see it letting fluid back to any position. Also, I'm completely confused on the valve issue, but hydraulics can't be that difficult to understand on a flow basis...if fluid goes somewhere it has to return...right? so where is my fluid returning? and I paid for that fluid. I would like it back. arghh. Just finding some humor here. I really do appreciate the patience you guys have. I seem to ask more than I can answer.

I can't really explain it anymore then what I have, maybe go into this site and have a look at all the different Valves and the way there set up hopefully it'll give you a better understanding. Nimco Valves.com. Larry;)

By sticky lever, just where is it sticking?

In the float mode, the fluid is allowed to flow to flow freely to and from the reservoir, as the implement rises and falls with the contour of the ground.. There appears to be some back pressure somewhere to cause the cylinder to extend.

The lever in the float mode is supposed to stick in the float position past the small detent.

hey jj ..it happens when in the neutral position ..most of the time it is when lowering it and i go back to neutral it will keep going down ,,,it has happened going up but not to often... i really have to keep watch on it ...i was told it was the valve,,,they said take it apart clean it put new o rings ,,but i dont know,,,i would rather do it myself if i can thanks for the help bruce

If you do take it apart and clean it, look at the spool and bore with a bright light and see if there is any scoring. If none, probably just a cleaning and new o-rings, if required should bring it around to almost new condition.

thanks jj..do you have any idea if just regular o rings like from the parts house or a good hardware store would be the same or is it somthing unusual... ???.....sorry for all the questions ,,,thanks for all the help bruce

If you know the manufacture of the valve, order from them. Some people will use just any o-ring that looks close and use it, but you take your chances.
