This is a very good idea for what I need.

I would like to continue my fence project but I need to cut mortises much faster in 6" square posts. I would buy a new saw and do this to it. I saw a setup in a hardware store
that did mortises for $900.00 ish some years ago and I have not seen any more since.
I think I would need 35 post times 3 holes = 1 0 5 holes.

1 new skil saw
2 bars bolted together
small chain the carving type
simple plunge method

No safety police allowed

I did another chainsaw project that puts a electric polesaw on the end of a 15' extension pole and then you add another extension pole for a total of 26'. It is a little wild but safer than climbing. Proto type # 2 fell from 20', it was a reclaimed trash can saw ( RIP )

Took this in on trade Echo CS 702EVL 71cc PHO. Guy was running a 8T and 24"

I put a 7T and a 16" on it to test. Holy cow these things run good. 8T will be going back on. Dang she sounds and runs good. Freaking beast in the cut.

Here is how it looked before wiping off.

definitely treasure, not junk.

Rebuild done with new piston kit and muffler mod. Needed a bunch of little things replaced but that is normal wear parts.

This one could be hard to let go with it's 12.4lb PHO weight and 62cc. Very impressed with the first few test cuts set real rich.

after pics. I have before muffler mod pics if needed.

I've got an MS360 that I picked up with a scored piston. with just a little cleanup work That saw runs freaking great and I can't let it go. It still isn't as good as a screaming 262xp but if you only had to have one awesome all around saw, that would be it....

This 036 muffler was simple. No inner cage to remove or drill out, if you went that way. Make sure to richen up H side after muffler mods. Sometimes the L side or idle might need a touch, but not often.

Steve I have owned 262xp's. I wasnt impressed with them at all for a 62cc saw. Just over rated IMHO.
My Poulan open port 60cc 3750 felt better handling wise in the woods being used then the 262xp and cut on par with it JMO. I sale every 262xp I get in, good money makers and I am glad they have a cult type falling.

I've only owned a 261. just got to ran a modded 262xp. it "felt" like a hopped up 372 with half of the weight.. never got to run them side by side. I have 25 bucks in my mint MS360!

I also have a 360 and a 310 I never use the 310

It is exhaust gases through the tubing and is adjustable to how much you want for heat. The oem tubing is some kind of silicon tubing I would guess.

Works great on 490 5000 top handle and rear handle. My 346xpg new type heated handle is just top handle I think and carb.

XYZ, I believe your 346 should be both handles. I know mine is, they work too good like most Huskies. You have to shut them off after a few min and you def don't want to run them without gloves!! CJ

Thanks. I'll have to look into that. They almost never get used now anyways.

But you never know when a call to cut in the dead of cold could arise in a emergency.

I have been meaning to try to spend more time over here w/ this crowd.
You guys got the right stuff & the goods I say!

I have a Stihl 009 (What is it called, a Mini Boss? Or a Mini Farm Boss?)

Craig, here, you can buy those Beam Saws, works good. You buy the
chainsaw parts (Prazi) and mount it up to your saw. I wanted a dedicated
beam saw so I picked up this Craftsman.

prazi.jpg

I have been wantin' a large"r" chainsaw. My Stihl dealer is tryin' to put
me into a MS362-20 , I noticed a note on the quote that said "Flush".
I assume that is a handle, well, lack of a handle on the side so a guy can
cut a stump flush to the ground ? I have not been able to find good pics
of a "Flush" handle and a, is it a "Full Wrap" handle? Well he is prob just
pushin' what he has in stock. I perfer to leave stumps 4-5' tall to use
as a lever and just dig the stumps out.

But where was I, oh, so I was
thinking about a new saw but DANG! It is $650bones? Naw...that shy'd
me away then this morning I realized some of you guys are either in the
chainsaw only biz or are enthusists and maybe a guy could think about
buying a used Sthil Chainsaw for a song, maybe a song and a dance! :D
For now I think I pefer to stick to Stihl. So sumthin' for maybe a couple-few
of you guys to think abouts. I can't do it right away, but need to be thinkin' bout it anywho...

Hey is there anything wrong w/ carrying my 009 like pictured below? I built that
holder and didn't ask first, I kinda doubt it but nothing like askin pro's...

Now I need to figure up a cool way to carry some mix-gas as well.

I plunged cut a slot thru a piece of scrap 4x6 just to see if I could do it
and schzam! I did such a good job I decided to keep it and use it so off
I went w/ a lil wood putty here and there and some black paint and I
welded up a hanger ring and simply lag bolted it from below thru an
existing hole in the deck, works well...

Good thread!!! I'm a stihl fan but have others as well. I started at 13 with a 3400 counter vibe my dad gave me. Still have it. He went to a 041. I now have that. He quit cuttin logs, just limbs now. Here are some pics of the fleet.

The odd one I posted a friend gave me a month ago. It was his grandfathers. Did a little search and it seems it was popular in its day. What say you? Super wiz 66
