Wish I had a echo 620 to test with these ported and stock cylinder 359's in future.
Already know how the 590 is. Owned and sold even after muffler modding. Like to see what the better port timing and less vibration of 620 is like.

I know the ported one pulls 24" 3/8 like a beast rip cutting already.

Got the 490 going, a little carb cleaner and changed the gas.
The saw seems picky, as I emptied the tank into my blower, and it started right up.
I had to adjust idle, was going too fast, but that's not a new issue.
Purrs now and idles like it should.

Run ethanol mix? Dia's could be getting stiff.

Mostly canned mix, especially the last few batches for the 490
I do run e10 with stabil and red armor oil, have not had problems with any other engine with that mix. Blower, brushcutter, long hedge trimmer etc.

The 620P only gets canned gas, too many Ash falling to even have a slight risk that one won't start.

Seems to be running fine now, if it does this again may look at the diaphragms. Saw is about 7 years old and has quite a few hours on it but looks pretty clean. Sprocket not too worn, but showing some age. on my third/fourth bars (18" and 20"), retired a few chains past filing. So I'm sure it will need some work on it soon, but it's been dead reliable until this hard start.

Dont care for the echo 2511 caps. They want you to use the T handle. I call BS.

577878603 T435 caps in normal ending on 1 and flip caps work ending in 3.

Both saws got a good workout today, on their way back to get cleaned and the chains sharpened.
The dead Ash is rough on chains when it turns from solid to powder in the trunk.
More work to go, lots of firewood to make.

490 do fine?

Have you muffler modded that 490 at least? Echo is so bad and detuning them using mufflers.

Stock 490 muffler is even worse then 4910 501 stock.

I have a new exhaust cover ready to go, just need to find the time to get the old exhaust off.
It is pretty well stuck on from the factory.

Will let you know when done, need to clean the screen too, sure that's not helping the HP.

Toss that blame restriction pipe they put inside too.

Open the front of stock deflector and it's all free for nice gains too.

If I ever try something else on a 2511 besides the Egan pipe. It will be the cnc version from a member in my CRG from NY.
He has 2 versions and like them over wcs version.

Bigger pipe outlet and a smaller one that reminds me of the open clone muffler size.

Finally the finishing touch I wanted to add to the ported 359. Just didn’t care for past owners decal selection and removed it.

But without putting the Fabcorp sticker on saw I wanted to show it had Xtra Power. 😁
Even though saw is not a XP.

I wanted to either go with puff xp or a older xp design.
On this one the older 268xp design was the winner in my mind.

Joseph Salva at Sugarcreek decals had what I wanted.
It’s a clear back sticker decal and of very high quality.
Thank you for offering this service.

I changed directions on my thinking after some run time on the echo 2511 rear handle PN. For spike I wanted for my uses.

So I went with a 5 point bigger spike over the 3 point I was going to get.
Pics show how much longer and thicker over small oem one. With same spike angle design.

10 bucks shipped.

OEM one basically worthless. Look how tiny.

The dead ash trees are out of control in PA/DE.
Good for business, though 😁

My wife was making a order on amazon actually and saw it there. Same one that cost double the price on ebay. 10 shipped.

I figured worth the try to see before going to a 3 point Jason Egan spike I was going to get.

Dont know if you been keeping up with Ed and his troubles with stihl in Canada.

Dec 2024 = I bought a couple new 462 arctics and both are junk, mtronic is way to lean , both saws are back at stihl with couple hours on them waiting to see if they will fix them

Dec 2024 I bought 5 saw stihl saws , 3 new 500i and 2 462 arctics , both 462s will not run to save their souls , the mtronic is all over the place trying to set the motor so they are back at Stihl , I have owned alot of mtronic saws and these are the first junk ones I have gotten .
Now the 500i , one runs great , the other 2 run great if you can get them primed so I took the primer bulb out to see why it was sucking as much air as fuel , the groove the bulb sits in is a couple thou bigger than the bottom part of the primer bulb so of its going to suck air plain and simple and another thing , why only 2 screws holding the plate to the primer , there should be 4 . the primer bulb fits in between the plate and primer , I just put a shim between the primer bulb and the plate and problem is fixed , make sure shim does not have a sharp edge that will cut the bulb.

Ed = Have not heard back much from stihl other than both saws are junk , will see what they do about if anything.
I think the one saw had 1.6 hours on it but never ran any good out of the box , other saw was just under 5 hours .
If they do nothing that will cost them alot more in the end . I told stihl to really fix those saws proper or just keep them and I will eat the over 3 grand I got in those 2 saws and carry on running something else.

Today 2025 not going good and Ed buys alot of stihls.

Not going good for Ed = Well I had the other guy contact me that had the other 462 Arctic out of the 11 that were sold in my area , It blew up in about 3 hours run time , Stihl is not going to fix it , blaming fuel but he was running their fuel in a can .
Another guy that I knew quite well that cuts firewood just for himself that has bought a lot of stihl saws and weed wackers bought a 500i that had a problem , he took it back to dealer and dealer told him No Stihl was not going to fix it , Saw was 92 days old , When he bought it they told him it had a 1 year warranty now they told him they changed that rule to 90 days even thou I'm sure his saw would not have 10 hours on it cause he works a lot of hours at his real job .
He phoned Stihl head office here in Canada and they told him to bad so sad. I can tell you every stihl machine he owns is now for sale and the Husky dealer is loving it , the group of guys around here including me have bought a fair number of husky saws in the last 4 months

What saw? Just looks like a travel limiter.

Sometimes they can be covered in rubber but lot times not.
