 wow so it was the metal brush cutting blade?
Yep. I was doing a clearing job a few weeks back, and we had chainsaws out on the ground.
Happened about 4-5PM, at the end of the day, when everything bad happens. 😖

At least you didn't run over it with your tractor. I've never done that, but some have. I always set my saws down in the bed of my truck or next to a big tree.

Someone wanted all my poulan 4000 saws. Great 64cc saws. Chrome bore with thin rings pistons.

How I priced them. The runner user on left was 200 shipped.

The 2 project saws that fired off yesterday a 100 each shipped.

To me that is more then fair being I know what I could get for them parted out.

Pending.

I know somebody who forgot he was carrying his 254 in his bucket and decided to level off a berm. It's a sick feeling when you look down and see that saw between the front tires.

Never done anything like that

Cut up a tree in the driveway after snow, then decided to push some snow into a pile. Was weeks later when I found the saw from the bucket.....
At least I was not moving gravel.

Them 3 64cc Poulan 4000 SOLD and headed west a couple states over to a collector.

He wants to restore the green tank one. His dad had bought one new and still runs it today.

He wants one because what he ran growing up. Trust me it's not a need it's a want thing. I know the saws he owns.

Put it this way. He gave a brand new 500i away in my group on a drawing. I cant recall if we bought tickets or what. But 500 was just out back then.

@haydude look on Amazon for those plastic pieces, a large amount of them are available aftermarket surprisingly cheap.

Back in the day wasn't Poulan a commercial/Pro brand of saws?

I know McCulloch was. 1950's-1970's Mac logging saw etc. They also made superchargers(Paxton). Motors were used in racing Go-Karts. And, they (Robert McCulloch) were tied to the founding of Havasu City and the London Bridge place there.

They were some heavy MFers though back then. 85cc and cut right with but stronger in cuts then today's 85 cc torque wise.

I had 3 of them 2 8500 gen3 and 1 5400 gen2
5200 was gen1.

I did get to test the newer Partner made poulan 505 83cc I owned, husky 385xp I owned and friend stihl 064. All in hardwood buried.
Didnt own one of the older ones during the testing.

Thinking the 8500 5400 was like 18lbs 3oz PHO dry weight.

Wanted to check the hack ported echo 490 out.
Being it’s the one that went flying over a month ago.

Even with the spring assist start it has. I can’t drop start it with right hand like 2511.
So on the ground and straddling to start left handed.

Did the same for stock 359 I got on trade. To check out.

After what I think was echo bar tip might have said bye bye on 490.

Looking like I will be close to 46”-48” across where I am going to stump this pita tree.

Got the stock 359 out yesterday by mistake. But being I already walked to tree I went ahead and cut with it.

It is a redneck gilled muffler mod. Came with gasket delete already and showed about 160psi.

IMO ran fine compared to some of the stock 2159 I sold from memory. So I think the mm and maybe delete helped.

Letting project packrat eat some today.

OE 346 built from parts with NE 44.3mm aftermarket topend.

Gasket in and just muffler mod.

Trying to get some run time to break in. Thinking only started 2nd tank.

Nice looking sawdust chips. (y)
What do you like for sharpening in the field? I just use the Stihl sharpening unit. Seems to be satisfactory for this wood butcher.

I have some sawing to do on Thursday/Friday. I think I put them away dull, so sharpening will be 1st order of bizniz.

Are you talking about the Stihl 2 in 1 sharpener? If so, those are my favorite files I have.

Thats some oregon 325 LPX I still have on hand.
I really like the LPX and LGX for price. But also like these new ones in C33 23RS too. But their double the price.

I just carry files on handles.

This is out front of my shop/barn so I can walk across drive and just swap saws or file if I wanted to in vise.
