This may be blasphemous for me to ask, but being that you like some of the echos, have you dabbled much with their earlier stuff the Shindaiwa chainsaws? The Japanese had those small engines (brushcutters, backpack blowers, hedgers) all dialed in. Even their top handle saws were little screamers. Not quite as good as the original MS200t, but even the new ones can’t touch the old 200t.

Anyways, just curious if you found anything from the original Echo platform that has stood the test of time.
I never did do the older Shins. My local husky dealer today was my local Shin dealer way back though.

I even pass on the older Shins due to parts out there.

I had some older echo's. 34cc and up.

They did their job too. Cheaper and got the same work done as more expensive saws.

Think I owned about everything from older days.

Just did this for kicks. I rate them on the same homeowner level myself.
Haven’t timed anything. But by feel in cut times alone. I think the strato PP4218 42cc was ahead of the PP400E corded chainsaw.
Ran same me stihl 63PS full chisel on each.

Def lean on the corded saw more

Timed cuts by hand timer. The PP400E was fastest on its 2nd cut and beat the PP4218 fastest cut too on it's 2nd cut.
Basically same same if working around a house close.

To show something I could have bought but sent to a friend that lived near it. I dont collect and wasnt going to drive 2hrs one way for another 50cc saw.

He got it now so I will share. Bought from original owner.

It's perfect cleaned up too and now in his collection.

Ad I seen with price

In my group talking about styles of on/off switches. Pic as it arrived to me way back.

I had a momentary kill toggle switch on a 166 racesaw. No more forgetting to turn it on cold start racing.

That push button is a great idea, will have to keep it in mind... gotta look out for a pack of normally open buttons now... :)
Lot of husky stuff uses momentary kill switches today. Just swap them in your normal switches on them.

All my hand held blowers have them husky and poulan.

Just find right ones to replace your style.

The words corded and chainsaw just sound like an accident waiting to happen. It’s like putting a leash on children. Just because some of them may need it to behave better, doesn’t make it right. 🤣
