Can't imagine a persistent valve cover leak. No oil pressure there.

I know for a fact I don't have a Gasket on my Ym2000. I did use small bead of seal on it but nothing close to the amount on Coosa's. IMO. that Heads Warped. But I'll have to give credit when it's due. This is one of the first Fredricks tractors I've heard of on this forum with this kind of problems.

Understand, the amount of sealant you are seeing in the pic is from my amateurish attempt to repair the first leak from the valve cover gasket. I no doubt used too much sealant and that could have contributed to it failing again. The gasket had a short of area of a couple of inches on the original job that has no sealant at all. You would think that was the source of the leak, but it sure looked like it was leaking from another place. I don't think the mechanic messed up with the gasket; I think something is warped.

I don't know when they can get it to work on it, but I'm sure they will fix it. I could carry it to them myself, but its a 3 hour trip one way and I will just wait until they have a truck coming near my house to get it.

Sounds bad!!! The puffs of smoke are strange and the rolling smoke even more so! Sounds like a messed up injector and or pump out of time?

Could be overheated, which might be why it stalled in the garden? But the black smoke and clearing is over fueling. Unless it did crack and its sucking oil into the cylinder?

The valve cover gasket thing is strange? i wonder why they couldnt get the cover to seal up after they fixed it?

Whatever happened in the garden, that was the first time it did it. It had been leaking oil and running slightly hotter than normal, but it was still operating with full power and I had no reason to believe that it wouldn't handle a 5 minute job. It was nowhere near hot when it started pouring out the black smoke. I feel sure it was dumping in way too much diesel fuel when that happened. Could a cracked head make it do that, or would it have to be something in the injector? When it started putting out the black smoke, I pushed the throttle back and it didn't respond. Although it was losing power, it wasn't back to idle and I couldn't get it to idle. Again, it seemed like too much fuel was going in and the throttle couldn't control it.

I'm thinking the head is ruined in some way. I hope it doesn't extend into the block.

Thanks for all the comments

Injector or injector pump likely.

Thats what I was saying or thinking. A warped head or valve cover?

Like was mentioned the original is a rubber gasket. Sometimes people put sealent on it to hold it in place but the rubber does the sealing. In carys case someone probably fubared the rubber or it was cracked before he got it. And has been sealed since with RTV silicone, which will work also.

Now it has developed another issue just sitting in the yard. :(

I parked it on a little rise so that I could winch it onto a trailer if it wouldn't crank again. I left the bucket up high so that it wouldn't be an issue if that happened. Now the bucket is sitting on the ground. It took 5 days, but it went from 5 feet in the air to sitting on the ground.

So I guess it has some kinda leak in the hyd system as well?

My Super C leaked oil, hyd fluid, gear oil, and anti-freeze, so a leaking tractor isn't new to me. Still, I would have thought this one would do a little better.

I guess it is what one is willing to put up with. The Bulldog (VN) loader on my 2002D would stay up indefinite for the 7 years I had it. Bought this Bobcat and right off had to repalce seals in one curl cylinder. Lift cylinders will probably leak down from 5' in 24 hours. No external leaks so I can live with it.

Yea its probably internal and bypassing. I know a guy that had a V2 or 3 loader on his VN and that thing would stay in the air for months and never move!

My ym2000 3pt hitch will leak down with just a box blade on it. I have replaced the piston oring and the boring on the valve. But still leaks just not as bad. Its just wear on the valve itself. I want it to be perfect but as one dealer said...."what's it hurting?. Does it drop while running".. I said No. He said I wouldnt fool with it. You have done everything you can without replacing the valve just let it be. Its a 30 year old tractor.
