Tractor
Mahindra 2015
Brand new tractor newbie here. I just placed an order for a new Mahindra 2015 with a grader box and brush hog. I also bought the trailer 16 ft. tandem axel to haul it. I paid 11,200 + tax, fees , etc.
I want to thank all of you on this site for your informative posts and quick responses to questions. I have been reading this site for awhile during the research phase of my purchase. I hope that my experience with a compact tractor will be a positive one.

No FEL as I will mainly be mowing and maintaining a road/path into my fishing camp. I do plan to purchase a FEL later if I can justify the need. I also plan to purchase more implements such as a log splitter and or post hole digger.

What is a good price for a 2015 with FEL in midwest? Do you think it would pull a 6' rear mount finish mower? I've looked at 2615 (gear and HST) ) but the dealer did not have a 2015 in stock that I could look at. Will be mowing 2-3 acres, light landscape work and clearing out snow in winter. Just trying to see if the price differece is worth stepping down. Thanks in advance for input.

Cajordan, The 2015 is one heck of a little work horse but a 6' mower on a 20 HP tractor (16 on the PTO, Hydro model) is asking a bit much. Stick with the 2615 or maybe even the 3015. Horsepower is horsepower the more you have the better it will run pto driven equipment. Good luck with your Mahindra shopping.

cajordan, I'm with Galen. I'd stick with the 2615 model. I've got the older Cub 23HP model and it is a real workhorse, essentially the same as the 2615. Mine was the first tractor but I would like to have just a little bit more HP, more like the 30HP Mahindra/Mitsubishi model. It would give you more versatility with the PTO output and other tasks.

Congatulations! The 2015's are amazing little tractors; you'll be amazed at how capable they are.

Don't forget to post a few pics!

Congrats on the the purchase. I have a 5005 and have never regretted purchasing it. (Even though Dad is a huge fan of green paint)
About FELs...It was a long time before we had a FEL on any tractor on our farm. After having several for a while now, we can't remember how we used to get anything done before. A FEL on a tractor is as handy as a pocket on a shirt. You will be amazed at the uses you could find for it.

I have a 7205 Cub which is the 2015 and it's basically a giant lawnmower. The 26HP model would be much better suited for real utility. The 20HP models are great little tractors with the emphasis on "little"! With the kind of equipment you are planning on I am sure think the 20 horse will be somewhat lacking in terms of power......

Appreciate the responses, I was kinda thinking along the same lines that the 2015 might be on the small side. If it matters much, I would go with the gear model. I drove both the gear and HST 2615 and really liked the gear! I was surprised as well because I "had my mind made up" to go HST before I actually drove the gear and liked it so much. I will mainly be mowing pretty open yard with finish mower so not a ton of stop and go. If the use was primarily loader, etc I would go HST without doubt.

I'm kinda torn to be honest, I think the 2615 is on the big side while the 2015 is a little small..too bad there is not something in between! IMO the 2015 would probably pull a 6' finish mower but you would have to keep up with it. Willl prob go with 2615 gear when I finally make up my mind. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I was buying again I would go gear. HST is nice but fluid sensitive and somewhat noisy in lower temps. A 2015 with gear might be OK power wise.....The 2615 might seem big now but once you are used to it things will just seem normal. I kind of suspect the 6' mower on the 20 horse is asking a bit much of it. A 5" would be fine. I have a 5' belly and you can make it grunt in higher grass. The dealer told me a 6' blade would be no problem. At this point I say BS. 5' is plenty for 20HP. All in all I do like my giant lawnmower but like you I wish there had been something between the 20 and 26. Maybe I should have gone Kubota or NH. Both have 24 horse models.

I am quite jealous! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That is a very nice machine. $11,200 is pretty expensive for a hat.... but, at least they threw in a tractor, trailer, and attachments! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seeing those pics makes me want to run to the dealer and pick one up. But, about 2 hours ago I bought a '06 Tacoma Prerunner.... so I guess I'll have to wait on a 2015!

Hope it works out well for you... you got a heck of a tractor!
