New to the website. Really neat place with lots of good info!

Just ordered 5500 4WD yesterday with FEL and bush-hog. Supposed to be delivered one week from today. This will be my first tractor and I'm really sweating the operation thing. Trying to cover all the safety bases first before I start going to town with it. The one thing I didn't fully understand was the transmission. Says "Forward-Reverse Synchro-Shuttle with full synchromesh". Is this the ticket for FEL work? Guess I shoud have researched a little better. Wish me luck.

That's a nice heavy tractor you have ordered. It will do a lot of work for you. The synchro-shuttle is a great transmission for loader work. Enjoy!

I think the synchro-shuttle is the bees knees for FEL work. The only improvement I can think of to make would be to make it foot operated. That way your left hand is on the wheel, right on the control valve foot for direction. That is the way a HST works but tall the HSTs I have seen are about 1/2 speed in reverce as they are in forward. The synchro is full speed both ways.

Tractor plus FEL was 20,900. Mower was about 1,800. Forgot the brand. I'll get back on that. If you find a better price, don't tell me.
