Nice to know Volfandt but a non issue for me because it won't be mowing grass :)

A closer comparison to the B2630/3030 would be a JD 3120. Try posting the question in the JD buying forum. You should get some response on the different model JD.s.

Everyone keeps mentioning the B2630. If you are trying to decide between the B7800 and the JD2520 I would take very serious consideration of the Deere. And I'm a Kubota person. That is based on looking at the specs only. I have never seen one up close and don't know the ergonomics or craftmansip. However, if you are actually considering the B2630. I would favor the Kubota B2630 over the JD2520.

the only thing that scared me about the Deer is it is not that friendly with attachments the were not Deer. From what I understand once in the Dear world you have to buy Dear attachments. You may find you buddy's chipper wont work on your Deer, or a great deal on a brush hog is no good because it is not compatible.

This has to be the biggest misconception I have ever read on this board - sorry Timber

I typically never buy Deere attachments because of price (except loader & FEL) and always they fit perfectly on every compact I have owned.

Lots of other misconceptions being passed along in this thread, and its just not worth counter pointing them all...

And I will say again I dont believe the hydrolic specs on the B2630 as being that superior over the Deere 2520. Im also willing to do the pepsi challenge in the tri-state area to put this to bed....any takers?

The JD is plastic and the B7800 is metal, for whatever that means.

Its truly means very little, since the hood is metal and only a small part of the side panels is plastic (which I like better for ease of cost to replace, and dent resistance)

You've gotten a lot of good stuff here for comparison.

Just a couple of quick things I noticed between the 7800 & 2520.

............................................7800...........2520...........................B2630
Hydro Tranny..........................3-speeds.....2-speeds.....................3-speeds
3 Pt lift..................................1/4 inch......pos control...................pos control
3pt lift cap.............................1300..........1150...........................1676
HP/C.I...................................30/91.5.......26.5/81.2....................26/68.5
Hyd output (total)...................9.5 gal........10.5 gal......................9.1 gal
Weight..................................1741...........1865..........................1766

Hope this helped a little too.

I added the B2630. I think that would be your closest competitor to Deere's 2520. Similar HP & weight & features.

As a one who owns neither Deere or Kubota, it seems the choice here is a slightly less powerful but more modern and fully featured tractor (Deere) vs a bullet proof more basic tractor with better loader capacities and PTO HP. Though I certainly respect the B7800 as one of the better bang for the buck tractors from any of the Big 3, it seems for the original poster's needs the 2520 just might be the better choice. Recall that he was almost ready to buy a BX class machine (which would have been adequate) so the "power" benefits of the 7800 may not be important in this instance.

This is not accurate either. The John Deere 3120 is more closer to the GL3130. Same basic size and power. The B3030 is quite a bit less in weight. Nothing is exactly a like but the 3000 series Deeres compete against the L30's head on.

Here are the JD2520 specs and the Kubota B7800 specs.

As much as I love orange I would seriously consider the 2520 if I were you for your needs. Just make sure it's "specked" out for what you want. It could be merely a basic tractor without any options. And as they'd say in Happy Days. . ."Sit on it"!

Of course of the three tractors everyone has been talking about my favorite is the Kubota B2630. But it doesn't sound like that's an option due to cost. You could talk with your Kubota dealer and tell him your situation and see if you can work out a deal for the B2630 though. It can't hurt to try.

HP wise they are similar. There is no real match for the B2630/3030, B7800 size tractor from Kubota.
As already suggested. Taiser needs to go to the dealers and check out what will work best for him.
