can’t speak for Summit, but on mine you want to be stopped then push your foot on the lock pedal and keep it down. It doesn’t click on/off.. if you let go it disengages.
Yes, it will be interesting to see how this goes for you. My impression of quality of the tractor from looking at several is good. How it holds up, that is a guess but going from the history of the manufacturer and the number of similar varieties sold, someone is buying them. I too am interested in seeing how they do warranty work but am willing to give them a chance.I am sure other brands of similar sizes would give similar impressions, but what won me over on the Summit was the out of the box options at this price point. With my rear diff not working correctly, it certainly is less than optimal on a brand new tractor less than a week old, but it will be interesting to also experience the service relationship since I was so used to the Kubota going to the dealer. I am also a little miffed about the whole no keys thing, because that is a quality issue, and I'm still not sure if the keys are supposed to be in the box, or the store is supposed to provide me with them.
Family Farm & Home indicated that the Summit service techs were mobile and did on-site service unless it was something major, and that is also partially what won me over. If there is anything any of you potential buyers want specific feedback on or testing, please let us know.
General feedback as a customer, I can say this: I think this type of product would be better represented at a small to medium size power sports / mower retail sales model. I feel like Big Box might be an issue because it was the Store Manager that sold me my Summit tractor, but he also only knew so much about it and I felt like that was mostly learned in the 6 hours of runtime on the handful of tractors he moved back and forth around the store. I could be completely wrong if they go through some in-depth training, but I didn't get that impression. I had already watched quite a few videos about this specific brand/model when I went in to purchase this. The other gripe I had is that once I signed my paperwork, I felt like my tractor should have been relocated so other customers couldn't mess around with it while I was awaiting delivery. I found some scratches and paint chips that were NOT present when I had initially signed the paperwork and did my walk around - because I specifically looked for that type of stuff. I don't know how I missed the dipstick issue other than to say that is pretty occluded from view.Really interested in this.
Several of the things you mentioned seems to be a dealer inspection item. It seems like the dealer was a bit short on doing their job. Keep us posted please.
