Just want a tractor

Somebody has to buy new. If not, there would not be many used ones.

Exactly. I'm pro buying used (not abused) for a lot of reasons, mainly, at this juncture, it's perfectly doable to buy a used in good shape pre-emissions tractor with reasonable hours on it, let the original owner take the depreciation hit and smile because there will be no lowest bidder emissions component failures down the road.

Problem with that scenario is simply that as more and more people come to the realization that a pre-tier 4 tractor is a better option, there are fewer and fewer available for sale and the ones that are, command high prices. I know in my case I spent the better part of a year looking for a pre-emissions unit that met my particular specification and finally found one but had to have it hauled 400 miles to get it here and had to put a bit of cash in it to return it to 100% operating condition.

The longer you procrastinate, the fewer there are available and the harder it is to find and buy one.

Like my cars, I always buy late model, off lease cars and trucks. Let the first owner take the depreciation hit. I don't much care if someone else drove the car or truck before me. I typically can buy a 2 or 3 year off lease vehicle (with the balance of the factory warranty and eligible for a factory extended warranty (which I always get because vehicles are so complex today) at a 50% or better savings over sticker price. Last one I bought I got for less than 1/2 the advertised price from a dealer. I'd rather buy from a dealer versus an individual anyway because the vehicles will be detailed and all maintenance taken care of, You basically get a low mileage used but new vehicle.

Tractors are almost the same deal. pretty hard to destroy one with less than 250 hours on the meter and unlike a car, it's also pretty easy to look over any used tractor and ascertain if it has been worked and maintained or abused and dumped.

I was trying to buy a 60k john deere engine for my fire suppression system from a company a few years ago. I literally had to ask for the owner and talk to him to get someone to sell me it. That was after spending a month bothering the salesman about it. They were the only dealer within a few hundred miles for my application, and I couldn't open my business without it. But holy cow, you can't even force money on some people, it's unreal.

Good luck with the Kioti.

That seems to be a trend. I've been trying to update our test lab at work and I'm lucky if one out of four companies I contact actually sends a quote. It's pretty sad when you are trying to buy a $125K piece of equipment and the vendor doesn't even see it as worth returning a phone call. How does that make you feel about the possibility they would be willing to service it?

Tractor was delivered this morning. Unfortunately I will be out of time for the next week so my wife will be breaking it in. Only question I have right now it that some of the controls seem a little stiff. Will they loosen up over time?

Congratulations on the new tractor!

Service it!:laughing: Company I bought it from is a dealer, no service at all. Of all the closests companies that service the type of engine I have within 3 hours of me, 1 called back and told me to call someone else they recommended, who never called me back. And one told me they could do it if I brought it in...this thing is bolted to a 2 foot thick piece of concrete and connected in the middle of a fire suppression system! I'm not just yanking it out on a casual sunday and bringing it on by :duh:

I ended up finding a guy who will come do it and some of my other more technical work associated with our set up here. But my Lord it wasn't possible to find an actual company who would come do it! It's just crazy and I don't know how else to call it.

I must be missing something here.....
Why buy a NEW (CUT) tractor?
Is Tier IV just so appealing that folks can't resist?
Or.... is it the dual cup holders, stereo radio, and heated seat?

Or people just go with it, we switched from Carb engines to FI, doesnt seem to be a problem, no longer use leaded gas, list goes on.

They may be adjustable. On my Branson there are adjustments for the friction on the throttle lever and the 3pt position control lever. I like controls that work smoothly so I reduced the friction on both. Of course with the throttle lever being easier to move I have to be more aware of where the lever is so I don't bump it accidentally.

Congratulations! I was seriously considering a Massey, until I saw that my 3pth backhoe would void the warranty.

I called Maibach as recommended yesterday. After 3 hours the owner came back with the terms and cost that we were looking for. As was your case we ended up with a 2019 vs the 2018 for less. He did not have the exact tractor on his lot. Found a dealer who had one and it will be shipped to his dealership. It was two hours from our house but worth it. The dealer was the best my wife and I dealt with throughout this process.

We ended up with the MF1740M. The new models do not have the regen system which was a plus form me. We take delivery in about 1.5 weeks

Just catching back up on this. I'm very glad it worked out for you! I honestly can't say enough about the service they've given me. so far.

I've had a few small bits replaced under warranty and they had a quick turnaround and good communication. Hope your tractor suits you well! I'm sure it will.
