^ dude, you could easily find the facts if you wanted to. There are clear facts about efficacy of mask use. But its clear that you would rather sit here and call it all political nonsense, so that you can feel justified in doing what you want to do, instead of helping. You need to change your forum signature under your posts.... not at all succinct, bud.
+1 agreed.

Would all be well and good if we were dealing with the Bubonic Plague.

Let the FEAR and HYSTERIA match the threat.

I will say again. I don't get it. Look how people live and drive, what they eat and subsance abuse.

BUT, in this case, we somehow can't take any chances with peoples lives! Somehow worth destroying trillions of dollars of economies. Maybe irreperably. (sp?)

...My work on COVID-19 is funded by the NATIONAL Science Foundation. A Federal entity, as in, sponsored by the government. Guess where the government gets their money to fund me? Taxes. Guess who pays taxes? ...

So you're wasting tax payer's money while you're here on the Internet debating moot points ?...figures...!

You sir, are exhausting. I am comprehending your written words just fine, but you just move the goalposts every time anyone replies to you.

You said that if there was solid evidence on mask use, people would present it. I am telling you, THEY HAVE. You refuse to read and acknowledge it, so debating anything with you is pointless. Anyway, this is just a good example of why the USA is the single worst country at handling this pandemic. People like you are why my son can't go to school this fall. And frankly, it kinda sucks.

PS, to anyone who still thinks the decision to issue stay-home orders wrecked the economy, you have it backwards (honestly, it took me some time to come around to this notion as well). Not dealing with the virus is what will continue to hurt our economy and prevent a proper and functional re-opening of commerce. Because, a majority of people properly acknowledge the real threat posed by covid, and do not wish to be out and about, shopping, dining, movies, concerts, flying on airplanes, etc. Until we get the virus controlled, these major components of our economy will not rebound. The longer it takes y'all to get with the program, the deeper the hole we dig.

It's kind of like saying it's a "fact" that body armour saves lives. You can't deny that. And if I wore one when out in public, there is no doubt, my odds of surviving a shooting would increase. But yet, it makes no sense.

And then to draw an even stronger parallel, I take the thing off at home, where my chances of getting shot are statistically greater.

Unfortunately, that has ALWAYS been the case.

Apparently our hospitals are largly empty. When they are filled to capacity, and there are reefers parked outside the morgue to handle the overflow of dead, I will reconsider the mask. Same when people right and left of me, are dying or people I do business with. Up to now, I don't personally know one case, let alone one death. Whether fudged to be caused by COVID or not.

I do use the word apparently often, for I consider myself smart enough to know I generally don't have a friggin clue what constitutes the true "facts" about almost anything.

I do now one thing though and it's hard to take for some. SOMETHING has to kill off humans. I'm also guessing, that VIRUSES will continue to evolve to this end.

This is a highly biased comparison...The lifestyles may be similar in the more rural regions but they are nothing alike in places like Stockholm or Copenhagen etc...
The stringent distancing and quarantining in Norway and Finland why not mention Denmark ?

In reality the spread rate in Stockholm can be compared to that of London with 10X the population...not much different than US hot spots and in a country where distancing was often ignored...

Excluding Denmark was simply an oversight. Here are the numbers:

Total: Infections - 15,379, Deaths - 621. Current infections: Averaging about 20 for months, but with a recent uptick to 150/day.

Population densities:

Denmark: 137/km^2
Sweden: 25/km^2
Norway: 15/km^2
Finland: 18/km^2

Largest city:

Denmark: Copenhagen (1.2M)
Sweden: Stockholm (1.5M)
Finland: Helsinki (1.2M)
Norway: Oslo (1.0M)

Those are pretty comparable.
